Abstract: Polymer compositions containing a suitable polymer and a triazine metal phosphate compound are disclosed, and the triazine metal phosphate compound can have a d50 particle size from 0.1 to 45 μm and a BET surface area from 0.5 to 30 m2/g. The polymer compositions have improved moisture resistance and improved wet insulating properties as compared to polymer compositions that contain polymerized versions of the triazine metal phosphate compound. The polymer compositions can be utilized in a variety of end-uses, such as wire and cable applications.

Abstract: Processes for producing ammonium octamolybdate/metal hydroxide complexes include the steps of pre-contacting ammonium dimolybdate and a metal hydroxide, and then contacting molybdenum trioxide, to form the ammonium octamolybdate/metal hydroxide complexes. The resulting complexes contain the metal hydroxide and from 1 to 95 wt. % of ammonium octamolybdate, and generally, at least 80 wt. % of the ammonium octamolybdate in the complex is present in an orthorhombic crystalline form. These ammonium octamolybdate/metal hydroxide complexes can be used as smoke suppressants in polymer compositions, such as PVC-based and epoxy-based formulations.

Abstract: A thermoplastic resin composition of the present invention is characterized by including: about 100 parts by weight of a polyolefin resin; about 10-80 parts by weight of a flame retardant other than sodium phosphate; about 1-25 parts by weight of zinc oxide having an average particle size of about 0.2-3 μm and a specific surface area BET of about 1-10 m2/g; and about 1-50 parts by weight of sodium phosphate. The thermoplastic resin composition has excellent antibacterial properties, flame retardant properties, chemical-resistant antibacterial properties, and the like.

Abstract: Provided is a rubber composition for tires which contains: a rubber component including an aromatic vinyl-conjugated diene copolymer that contains aromatic vinyl units and conjugated diene units, a high-cis polybutadiene rubber having a cis microstructure content of 95% by mass or higher, and an isoprene-based rubber; carbon black; and a silica having a N2SA of 40 m2/g or more, the copolymer containing at least 80% of isolated aromatic vinyl units based on the total aromatic vinyl units, the copolymer having a ΔTg of more than 10° C. but less than 20° C. as determined by DSC, the rubber component including, based on 100% by mass thereof, 1-45% by mass of the copolymer, 20-64% by mass of the high-cis polybutadiene rubber, and 35-60% by mass of the isoprene-based rubber, the rubber composition containing 5 parts by mass or more of the silica per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component.
