The beam splitter includes a first reflective surface and a second reflective surface that are parallel to each other. The first reflective surface transmits a first portion of the laser light and reflects a second portion of the laser light to the second reflective surface. The second reflective surface receives the second portion of the laser light from the first reflective surface and reflects received laser light in a direction parallel to the laser light emitted from the laser light source.

    摘要: Above a Peltier element disposed on a bottom of a case, bases that are platy members of two or more layers and have different expansion coefficients from each other are stacked. At least on a partial region of the base serving as an uppermost layer, a suppression member having an expansion coefficient different from that of the base serving as the uppermost layer is further provided. An optical element is disposed on the base and/or the suppression member. Even when a warp is likely to occur in the Peltier element, a stacked-plate structure of the base, the base, and the suppression member suppresses an occurrence of such a warp, whereby warps hardly occur in the base and the suppression member, and a shift hardly occurs in an optical axis between a beam splitter and an etalon.

    摘要: In the semiconductor laser device of the present invention, a semiconductor stacked structure including an active layer comprising a strained multi-quantum well structure is formed on a substrate 1, a cavity length is larger than 1000 &mgr;m but equal to or smaller than 1800 &mgr;m, and a low-reflection film S1 having a reflectance of 3% or less is formed on one facet and a high-reflection film S2 having a reflectance of 90% or more is formed on the other facet. The semiconductor laser module has a structure in which the semiconductor laser device is set to a cooling device constituted by electrically alternately arranging 40 pairs or more of the Peltier elements and holding them by top and bottom ceramic plates and sealed in the package. A grating having a reflection bandwidth of 1.5 nm or less is formed on an optical fiber to be built in.

    摘要: Herein disclosed is a method for preparing a nuclear-substituted salicylic acid or a metal salt thereof represented by the following general formula (1): ##STR1## [wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represents a t-butyl group, a t-amyl group, a t-octyl group, an isononyl group or an isododecyl group, provided that at least one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 represents an isononyl group or an isododecyl group; M represents a hydrogen atom or a metal atom; and n is the atomic valency of the metal atom M] which comprises the step of subjecting, to a Kolbe-Schmitt reaction, an alkali metal salt of a nuclear-substituted phenol represented by the following general formula (2): ##STR2## [wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same as those defined above] in which 100 to 50% of the alkali metal salt is potassium salt and 0 to 50% thereof is sodium salt, in a substantially water-insoluble solvent as a reaction medium. The method makes it possible to improve the yield of the specific nuclear-substituted salicylic acid and metal salts thereof and to provide such products having high purity without any post-treatment. The compounds can be used in color developers for pressure-sensitive recording sheets without any additional purification treatment.
