Abstract: The present invention refers to the use of a surface-treated calcium carbonate-comprising material and/or magnesium carbonate-comprising material as oxygen scavenger; wherein the surface treatment agent is selected from the group consisting of ascorbic acid and/or salts thereof, gallic acid and/or salts thereof, unsaturated fatty acids and/or salts thereof, elemental iron, iron (II)-salts and iron (ID-comprising oxides, iron (II, III)-comprising oxides and mixtures thereof; and wherein the total weight of the surface treatment agent on the total surface area of the at least one calcium carbonate-comprising material and/or magnesium carbonate-comprising material is from 0.01 to 40 mg/m2, based on the at least one calcium carbonate-comprising material and/or magnesium carbonate-comprising material.

The additive for a polymeric article includes a plurality of graphene nanoplatelets and a plurality of silica nanofibers. The composite polymeric article includes a plurality of graphene nanoplatelets, a plurality of silica nanofibers, and a polymeric matrix. The plurality of graphene nanoplatelets and the plurality of silica nanofibers are distributed within the polymeric matrix. The silica nanofibers have a mean cross sectional diameter of not more than 100 nm.

Abstract: There is provided a silver powder which has a small average particle diameter and a small thermal shrinkage percentage, and a method for producing the same. While a molten metal of silver heated to a temperature (1292 to 1692° C.), which is higher than the melting point (962° C.) of silver by 330 to 730° C., is allowed to drop, a high-pressure water is sprayed onto the molten metal of silver (preferably at a water pressure of 90 to 160 MPa) to rapidly cool and solidify the molten metal of silver to powderize silver to produce a silver powder which has an average particle diameter of 1 to 6 μm and a shrinkage percentage of not greater than 8% (preferably not greater than 7%) at 500° C., the product of the average particle diameter by the shrinkage percentage at 500° C. being 1 to 11 μm·% (preferably 1.5 to 10.5 μm·%).

Abstract: A rubber composition including guayule rubber and 15 to 90 phr silica. The rubber can be cis-1,4 polyisoprene and include 15 to 90 phr silica and contain less than 20% of the proteins associated with Hevea rubber and further include at least a trace of resins present in other natural rubbers. The rubber can be cis-1,4 polyisoprene and further include between at least a trace and 3% by weight of resins present in guayule rubber. The rubber composition can further be comprised of a synthetic rubber and include between about 40-100 phr of guayule rubber, and silica. The silica can be hydrophobated.
