Abstract: A photocurable composition contains at least one ultraviolet absorber represented by Formula (1), and a hard coating agent including the photocurable composition. wherein R1, R2 and R3 may be the same as or different from each other and represent a branched or linear alkyl group with 1-20 carbon atoms and is substituted with a (meth)acryloyloxy group; the alkyl group may be substituted with a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy group having 1-8 carbon atoms, or an acyloxy group having 1-8 carbon atoms; the alkyl group may be interrupted by an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, a carbonyl group, an ester group, an amide group, or an imide group; and R4, R5 and R6 may be the same as or different from each other and represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, an alkyl group having 1-12 carbon atoms, or an alkoxy group having 1-12 carbon atoms.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes a strategy to create self-healing, slippery self-lubricating polymers. Lubricating liquids with affinities to polymers can be utilized to get absorbed within the polymer and form a lubricant layer (of the lubricating liquid) on the polymer. The lubricant layer can repel a wide range of materials, including simple and complex fluids (water, hydrocarbons, crude oil and bodily fluids), restore liquid-repellency after physical damage, and resist ice, microorganisms and insects adhesion. Some exemplary applications where self-lubricating polymers will be useful include energy-efficient, friction-reduction fluid handling and transportation, medical devices, anti-icing, optical sensing, and as self-cleaning, and anti-fouling materials operating in extreme environments.

Abstract: A conductive composition containing carbon nanotubes, a carbon nanotube dispersant, and a dopant precursor, wherein the dispersant is a non-conjugated polymer compound having an aromatic ring as the repeating unit, and the dopant precursor is an acid-generating agent which generates cation by being subjected to light and/or heat. The aforementioned conductive composition is capable of stably dispersing carbon nanotubes and of efficiently doping same without damaging the conductive properties of the carbon nanotubes.

Abstract: Corrosion-resistant coatings and methods of making and using the coatings are provided. The corrosion-resistant coating includes magnetic particles dispersed in a polymer matrix, where the polymer matrix is non-polar and at least partially hydrophobic and the magnetic particles contain an adhesion region comprising a ferromagnetic material, and a polymer interface region surrounding the adhesion region comprising a plurality of ligands, where each ligand comprises an anchoring end and a non-polar end. Methods of producing corrosion-resistant articles are also provided. The methods include applying a corrosion-resistant coating to an article and curing the coating.

Abstract: A structure forming, on the surface thereof, a liquid film for improving sliding property to a fluid substance, the liquid film containing solid particles of particle size of not more than 300 μm that are dispersed therein. Abstract: A process for the coating a substrate with a microporous layer includes at least incorporation by mixing of at least one physical and/or chemical blowing agent into an elastomer mixture, shaping of the elastomer mixture including the physical and/or chemical blowing agent by means of a calender or of a roller-head system, and application of the calendered elastomer mixture including the physical and/or chemical blowing agent to a substrate to be coated. Further, heating and blowing of the coating including the physical and/or chemical blowing agent is then provided by means of at least one heat source. In some cases, the blowing agent is composed of microspheres, which in some embodiments, may be present in non-expanded form. In some aspects, the heating and blowing of the coating directly follows the application procedure. The heat source may be an infrared source, such as a ceramic source.

Abstract: A method and a system for producing a change in a medium disposed in an artificial container. The method places in a vicinity of the medium at least one of a plasmonics agent and an energy modulation agent. The method applies an initiation energy through the artificial container to the medium. The initiation energy interacts with the plasmonics agent or the energy modulation agent to directly or indirectly produce the change in the medium. The system includes an initiation energy source configured to apply an initiation energy to the medium to activate the plasmonics agent or the energy modulation agent.

Abstract: The present invention is to provide a water-based primer composition that exhibits excellent adhesion toward an adherend such as mortar. This water-based primer composition contains a high molecular weight emulsion (A) which is an emulsion of a resin having a weight average molecular weight of 200,000 or higher, and a low molecular weight emulsion (B) which is an emulsion of a resin having a weight average molecular weight of 100,000 or lower, wherein an average particle diameter of the resin of the low molecular weight emulsion (B) is 0.6 μm or less.
