摘要: The invention relates to systems enabling use of liquefied petroleum gas in diesel common-rail engines, and in particular to fueling diesel engines with diesel gas dual-fuel or only gas instead of diesel fuel. A gas ultrasonic transducer system for operating a diesel common-rail engine, comprises an electronic control unit; a water tank; a gas tank with gas supply shut-off valve; a gas level sensor; a gas pump operably connected with the gas tank; a water pump operably connected with the water tank; a mixer comprising a water level sensor and an ultrasonic transducer adapted to generate water vapor and gas mixture; wherein the mixer comprises two compartments: the upper compartment and the lower compartment, the means for separation of the upper and the lower compartments comprising an anti-reflux valve adapted to allow water vapor from the lower compartment to pass through the anti-reflux valve to the upper compartment and to prevent any liquid water from flowing into the upper compartment wherein the upper compartment of the mixer comprises an outlet operably connected with engine intake manifold; wherein the outlet of the gas pump is operably connected with the upper compartment of the mixer, the outlet of the water pump is operably connected with lower compartment of the mixer, where the ultrasonic transducer is located below the anti-reflux valve. The controlled interaction between elements of the system and vehicle elements results in a gas-water vapor mixture. In case of embodiment with dual fuel, the water gas mixture is calculated on the grounds of information received by the electronic control unit of the system from the engine common-rail, the engine temperature sensor, the air flow meter sensor, the acceleration pedal block.

摘要: An internal combustion engine assembly is provided with a fuel tank for fuel including ethanol, and a reformer for steam reforming of ethanol that is with an outlet connected to a buffer tank. A first reformer supply duct extends from the fuel tank to the reformer via a fuel evaporator that is in heat exchanging contact with the exhaust gases, for supplying ethanol vapor to the reformer. A second reformer supply duct extends from a water reservoir to the reformer via a water evaporator that is in heat exchanging contact with the exhaust gases. The reformer is in heat exchanging contact with the catalytic converter and is adapted for reforming ethanol and water into syngas including carbon monoxide and hydrogen, and for supplying the syngas via the outlet to the buffer tank. The reformer and the catalytic converter may form an integrated unit.

摘要: An air compression system includes an internal combustion engine operable to produce a power output in response to combustion of a fuel-air mixture, and an air compressor driven by the internal combustion engine and operable to draw in atmospheric air and discharge a mixed flow of compressed air and water. A water injection system supplies water to the fuel-air mixture and into the internal combustion engine, a separator assembly in communication with the air compressor separates a portion of the water from the compressed air, and a water passageway interconnects the separator assembly and the water injection system such that the air compressor supplies water to the water injection system.

摘要: Methods are provided for optimizing usage of water from a water injection system that injects water into the engine responsive to engine operating conditions such as knock, exhaust temperature, and dilution demand. An amount of water selected for injection purposes, as well as an order of water injection responsive to the various engine operating conditions, is varied based on a current water level relative to a predicted future water level. The method allows water usage benefits to be maximized particularly when water availability is limited.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for reducing blackening of an oxygen sensor due to voltage excursions into an over-potential region. Before transitioning the sensor from a lower voltage to an upper voltage during variable voltage operation, an operating temperature of the sensor is reduced via adjustments to a sensor heater setting. The reduction in temperature increases the range of temperatures available to the sensor before the over-potential region is entered.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for improving the performance and efficiency of diesel, gas-turbine, and turbojet combustion engines. The technical result is the creation of conditions for the formation of the open flame formed by burning (oxidation) of hydcerocarbon gases released directly at the moment the fuel is fed into combustion chamber. Consequently, it increases the efficiency and performance of the internal combustion engine. The claimed result is achieved by method of increasing the efficiency and performance of diesel, gas-turbine, turbojet internal combustion engines, which includes the following steps: obtaining hydrogen containing gas from a portion of fuel, previously split by way of overheating; injection into the combustion chamber previously split fuel; obtaining the flame of hydrogen-containing gases at the moment of injection; obtaining the effect of flaring combustion of the major portion of the injected fuel.

摘要: An internally cooled internal combustion piston engine and method of operating a piston engine is provided, with the combination of liquid water injection, higher compression ratios than conventional engines, and leaner air fuel mixtures than conventional engines. The effective compression ratio of the engines herein is greater than 13:1. The engines may employ gasoline or natural gas and use spark ignition, or the engines may employ a diesel-type fuel and use compression ignition. The liquid water injection provides internal cooling, reducing or eliminating the heat rejection to the radiator, reduces engine knock, and reduces NOx emissions. The method of engine operation using internal cooling with liquid water injection, high compression ratio and lean air fuel mixture allow for more complete and efficient combustion and therefore better thermal efficiency as compared to conventional engines.
