Compositions comprise first antioxidants and first additives, such as, a surface additives, performance enhancing additives and lubricant protective additives and optionally second additives and/or second antioxidants. The compositions are useful to improve lubricants, lubricant oils and other lubricant materials. The compositions and methods generally provide longer shelf lives, increased oxidative resistance, improved quality and/or enhanced performance to lubricants or lubricant oils.

A lubricant composition comprises a cycloaliphatic amine alkoxylate and a base oil selected from (a) a polyalkylene glycol; (b) a polyalphaolefin; (c) a naphthenic compound; and (d) combinations thereof; provided that the cycloaliphatic amine alkoxylate and the base oil are miscible. The lubricant may exhibit a viscosity change at 40° C. of less than 5 percent (%) after 13 days at 120° C. in dry air, indicating significant thermoxidative stability with minimal or no aromatic content, thereby enabling use of Groups II and III base oils, in particular, without reduced toxicity and/or quality concerns as compared with Group I base oil lubricants.

The present invention relates to a nano-diamond dispersion solution and a method of preparing the same. The method of preparing a nano-diamond dispersion solution comprises the following steps: providing a nano-diamond aggregation; mixing the nano-diamond aggregation with a metal hydroxide solution and stirring the mixture such that the nano-diamond aggregation is separated, to obtain a mixture solution; stabilizing the mixture solution such that the mixture solution is separated into a supernatant and precipitates; and extracting the supernatant and precipitates.

A lubricating oil composition for a heavy duty diesel engine comprises a base oil, at least 0.6 mass % of an ash-free antioxidant and an overbased magnesium-containing detergent. The detergent provides greater than 0.05 mass % Mg based on the mass of the composition. Bore polishing in the engine is reduced for a given level of exhaust gas ash production.

A multi-functional composition for use as an additive for fuels and lubricants. The composition includes an amination product of a hydrocarbyl substituted succinic acylating agent and a mixture containing an aliphatic polyamine and an aromatic polyamine. The molar ratio of aliphatic polyamine to aromatic polyamine in the mixture ranges from about 10:0.1 to about 0.1:10. The amination product contains at least about 0.1 molar equivalent of the polyamine mixture to 1 molar equivalent of the hydrocarbyl substituted succinic acylating agent.

The detergent provides greater than 0.05 mass % Mg based on the mass of the composition. Bore polishing in the engine is reduced for a given level of exhaust gas ash production.

The present invention provides a friction control composition comprising a binder a rheological control agent, and optionally a lubricant. The liquid friction control composition may also comprise other components a wetting agent, a consistency modifier, and a preservative. The liquid friction control compositions may be used to modify the interfacial friction characteristics in sliding and rolling-sliding contact such as steel wheel-rail systems including mass transit and freight systems. A method of reducing lateral force, reducing energy consumption, or controlling friction between a metal surface and a second metal surface by applying the composition to metal surface, for example a top of rail or wheel, is also provided. The composition may be sprayed onto the rail surface.

Disclosed are lubricating oil compositions for use in 2-cycle railroad diesel engines having silver surfaced engine parts, which composition comprises an effective amount of a silver wear inhibiting compound. A method for inhibiting wear of silver-surfaced parts in railroad engines and a drive train of a two-cycle railroad diesel engine comprising silver wrist-pin bearings and the lubricating oil composition comprising the wear-inhibitor are also disclosed.
