Abstract: A plastic preform apparatus is disclosed that is suitable for forming a bottle. The plastic preform apparatus features a neck portion adapted to engage a closure and includes a support ring at its lowermost point. The neck portion features a first wall thickness, and an elongated body portion including a cylindrical wall portion and an end cap. An upper segment of the body portion adjacent to the support ring features a second wall thickness substantially similar to the first wall thickness and less than a third wall thickness in a lower segment of the body portion.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to containers and other shaped articles that have a relatively thick substrate layer and one or more relatively thin liner sheets peelably adhered thereto. Animal litter can be placed atop the liner sheets, preferably in a concave portion to contain the litter. The liner sheets have perforations extending therethrough that permit the passage of non-soiled litter, but do not permit the passage of at least one of animal feces and soiled animal litter, such as clumps of litter and urine. After an animal has deposited waste on or in the litter, the liner sheet can be peeled from the container and waste unable to pass through the perforations can be collected.

Abstract: A touch substrate manufactured by three-dimensional printing and a method for manufacturing the same are disclosed. The method for manufacturing the touch substrate works together with a three-dimensional printer. The three-dimensional printer includes a first nozzle, a second nozzle, and a light source. The method includes the steps of: jetting a photocuring material by the first nozzle and exposing the photocuring material to the light source to form a base layer; jetting a conductive material on the base layer by the second nozzle and exposing the conductive material to the light source to form a touch electrode layer; and jetting the photocuring material on the base layer and the touch electrode layer by the first nozzle and exposing the photocuring material to the light source to form a protective layer. The touch electrode layer is embedded between the base layer and the protective layer.

Abstract: A syringe for use in a pressurized injection of a fluid includes a syringe barrel including a polymeric material having undergone expansion via blow molding. A preform for blow molding a blow molded syringe is described, the preform including a proximal end having a retention mechanism adapted to connect to the syringe to a powered injector, a distal end having a syringe outlet section, and a barrel section between the retention mechanism and the syringe outlet section, wherein the barrel section is adapted to be blow molded to form a cylindrical wall of a syringe barrel defined between the retention mechanism and the syringe outlet section.

Abstract: The present techniques provide a novel electrolyzer and methods for welding components of such electrolyzers. The techniques may use conductors, such as resistance wires, placed in paths around the internal structural features and edges of the components. The conductors may be incorporated into the components during manufacture by injection molding, or other molding techniques, or may be tacked or otherwise applied to the surface of the components after manufacture. When current, a field or other excitation is applied to the conductors, the plastic surrounding the wire is melted. If this plastic is in direct contact with an adjoining component, a strong, hermetic seal may be formed between the two components, including the internal structural features.

Abstract: Plastic microfluidic structures having a substantially rigid diaphragm that actuates between a relaxed state wherein the diaphragm sits against the surface of a substrate and an actuated state wherein the diaphragm is moved away from the substrate. As will be seen from the following description, the microfluidic structures formed with this diaphragm provide easy to manufacture and robust systems, as well readily made components such as valves and pumps.
