    摘要: An insulated drinking vessel, e.g., a tumbler, and method of making the same is disclosed. The vessel basically comprises a pre-molded inner vessel formed of a plastic material having a sidewall is disposed within a pre-molded outer vessel formed of a plastic material having a sidewall to form a subassembly having an insulating air space between the sidewalls. A ring of plastic material is molded in-situ on top portions of the inner and outer vessels of the subassembly to cause portions of the plastic material of the inner and outer vessels to melt and intermingle with the plastic material of the ring to form a non-superficial homogenous joint. The ring forms the rim or lip of the insulated drinking vessel.

    摘要: An apparatus for producing an improved friction-fused welded joint is provided for use with overlapping thermoplastic strap portions. In an embodiment, the gripper is caused to swing back and force with a sufficiently large stroke and with a sufficiently fast stroke to cause sufficient reciprocation to rapidly heat the thermoplastic so that the two straps are welded together while reducing the depth of the area that is melted compared to traditional methods. Also, in an embodiment, a method is provided for stopping the relative motion of the two portions of straps with the portions of the plastic straps oriented in the same aligned relative positions at the end of the welding operation as at the beginning is disclosed.

    摘要: A column or other elongate molded part is molded using an elongate tubular mold having a closed end, an open end and a flexible sidewall. After the column or other molded part is formed, it is extracted from the mold by pulling the column or other molded part axially through the open end of the mold. The inner surface of the mold may comprise a recessed or protruding form to mold a protruding or sunken relief on or in an exterior surface of the molded part. The column may be extracted using an expandable plug that is inserted into the interior of the column or other molded part through the open end of the mold. The expandable plug is expanded to engage and seal against an inner surface of the elongate molded part. A pressurized gas is introduced into the interior of the elongate molded part through the plug to expand the mold before pulling the column through the open end of the mold.

    摘要: An apparatus and a method for a continuous manufacture of an expanded composite honeycomb block are provided. Resin impregnated fibers are deposited on a conformable thin membrane that moves over a heated bed with a corrugated surface. A vacuum is applied between the conformable thin membrane and the heated bed to conform the resin impregnated fibers to the shape of the corrugated surface of the heated bed. A stacker is lowered to contact the corrugated resin impregnated fibers on top nodes of the corrugated surface of the heated bed. The corrugated resin impregnated fibers are heat cured. The stacker is raised to lift the heat cured corrugated resin impregnated fibers after the corrugated resin impregnated fibers release from the conformable thin membrane. The above steps are repeated until the stacker stacks layers of the corrugated resin impregnated fibers to a desired thickness to manufacture the expanded composite honeycomb block.
