The using of carbon nanotubes to produce a thin film or buckypaper, hereafter referred to as carbon nanotube membrane, which is soaked with epoxy resin or a carbon nanotube-epoxy resin composite adhesive, and then placed between the joining edges of components, where after an electric current is passed through to heat up the carbon nanotube membrane. This leads to the curing temperature of the epoxy resin or carbon nanotube-epoxy resin composite adhesive, thereby hardening the epoxy resin or carbon nanotube-epoxy resin composite adhesive to achieve bonding. This invention utilizes simple equipment, and the method of an electric current passing through for heating, which can rapidly and uniformly heat the epoxy resin or carbon nanotube-epoxy resin composite adhesive, resulting in hardening and bonding. This method is not affected by the environment, and greatly reduces the time and resources required to harden the epoxy resin, and achieves a stronger effect additionally.

The invention relates to a device for curing a plastic material, in particular a sealing compound and/or a filling compound for tolerance adjustment or gap filling, respectively, wherein the plastic material is at least partly inserted in a gap area between two components, and wherein at least one of the components is made of a fiber reinforced plastic material, in particular of a carbon fiber reinforced epoxy resin. According to the invention the device is provided with at least one electromagnetic inductor for a locally defined heating of the gap area and for curing the plastic material arranged in the gap area. Due to the electromagnetic inductor which might be a linear inductor or a circular inductor a contact-less and fast curing of the plastic material is possible.

A method and apparatus are disclosed for sealing a metal end to an end of a non-metal body of a food container. The method includes placing the metal end onto the end of the non-metal body and inducing electrical currents in the peripheral portion only of the metal end to heat the peripheral portion. The peripheral portion is heated to a temperature and for a time sufficient to melt the non-metal end of the body. The inductive heating is then ceased to allow the molten material to re-solidify forming a bond and a seal with the metal end. The apparatus includes an annular copper coil sized and shaped to be positioned around or overlying the peripheral portion of the metal end. Passing radio frequency current through the copper coil induces heating currents in the peripheral portion of the end. Alignment features may be attached to the copper coil to align and center it with the metal end.

An array of included, sacrificial resistive wires is buried along the edges of the tiles and is controllably heated in order to cause welding of the edges of tiles across the paths of the wires to neighbouring tiles.
