Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to apply a sufficient electrical field to a liquid crystal material in a horizontal electrical field liquid crystal display device typified by an FFS type. In a horizontal electrical field liquid crystal display, an electrical field is applied to a liquid crystal material right above a common electrode and a pixel electrode using plural pairs of electrodes rather than one pair of electrodes. One pair of electrodes includes a comb-shaped common electrode and a comb-shaped pixel electrode. Another pair of electrodes includes a common electrode provided in a pixel portion and the comb-shaped pixel electrode.

Abstract: A light-emitting element having high emission efficiency which includes a fluorescent material as a light-emitting substance is provided. A light-emitting element includes a pair of electrodes and an EL layer between the pair of electrodes. The EL layer includes a light-emitting layer. The light-emitting layer includes a host material and a guest material. The host material has a difference of more than 0 eV and less than or equal to 0.2 eV between a singlet excitation energy level and a triplet excitation energy level. The guest material is capable of emitting fluorescence. The triplet excitation energy level of the host material is higher than a triplet excitation energy level of the guest material.

Abstract: Since power source voltages are different depending on circuits used for devices, a circuit for outputting at least two or more power sources is additionally prepared. An object is to unify outputs of the power source voltages. A transistor using an oxide semiconductor is provided in such a manner that electrical charge is retained in a node where the transistor and a capacitor are electrically connected to each other, a reset signal is applied to a gate of the transistor to switch the states of the transistor from off to on, and the node is reset when the transistor is on. A circuit configuration that generates and utilizes a potential higher than or equal to a potential of a single power source can be achieved.

Abstract: A battery in which a decrease in discharge capacity retention rate in charge and discharge cycle tests is inhibited is provided. The battery includes a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The positive electrode is used as a positive electrode of a test battery in which a negative electrode includes a lithium metal. When a test of 50 repetitions of a cycle of charge and discharge in which, after constant current charge is performed at a charge rate of 1 C (1 C=200 mA/g) until a voltage of 4.6 V is reached, constant voltage charge is performed at a voltage of 4.6 V until the charge rate reaches 0.1 C, and constant current discharge is then performed at a discharge rate of 1 C until a voltage of 2.5 V is reached is performed in a 25° C. environment or a 45° C. environment and discharge capacity is measured in each cycle, a discharge capacity value measured in a 50th cycle accounts for higher than or equal to 90% and lower than 100% of a maximum discharge capacity value in all 50 cycles.

Abstract: To provide a display device capable of performing image processing. Each pixel is provided with a memory circuit in which desired correction data is retained. The correction data is generated by calculation in an external device and written to each pixel. The correction data is added to image data by capacitive coupling and supplied to a display element. Thus, the display element can display a corrected image. Through the correction, image upconversion can be performed, or image quality decreased because of variations in pixel transistor characteristics can be corrected.

Abstract: In a thin film transistor, an increase in off current or negative shift of the threshold voltage is prevented. In the thin film transistor, a buffer layer is provided between an oxide semiconductor layer and each of a source electrode layer and a drain electrode layer. The buffer layer includes a metal oxide layer which is an insulator or a semiconductor over a middle portion of the oxide semiconductor layer. The metal oxide layer functions as a protective layer for suppressing incorporation of impurities into the oxide semiconductor layer. Therefore, in the thin film transistor, an increase in off current or negative shift of the threshold voltage can be prevented.

The filter includes a region overlapping with the first pixel, a region overlapping with the second pixel, and a region overlapping with the third pixel, and the filter has a transmittance spectrum having local minimums at a fourth wavelength and a fifth wavelength. The second wavelength is longer than the first wavelength. The third wavelength is longer than the second wavelength. The fourth wavelength is between the first wavelength and the second wavelength. The fifth wavelength is between the second wavelength and the third wavelength.
