    摘要: The present invention is directed to fuel injection devices for internal combustion engines. An object of the present invention is to provide a fuel injection device for an internal combustion engine capable of identifying a non-contributing fuel quantity when port injection and cylinder injection are simultaneously performed. If an explosion count and a coolant temperature for any cycle can be acquired, they can be applied to a first map and a second map to thereby find non-contributing fuel for 100% port injection and non-contributing fuel for 100% cylinder injection, respectively. Each of these found values of the non-contributing fuel is multiplied by a corresponding injection share ratio during injection of the non-contributing fuel to thereby find non-contributing fuel that takes into account the injection share ratio. Finally, these values are added up to arrive at a non-contributing fuel requirement value.

The exhaust gas recirculation system has an adjustable flow and is operable to supply exhaust gas to at least one engine cylinder. The engine further includes means for determining a value indicative of a charge density of a combustion mixture that includes gaseous fuel, air and exhaust gas supplied to the at least one cylinder, and adjusting a flow quantity through the exhaust gas recirculation system based at least in part on the value. The charge density may permit the controller to set a NOx output rate from the engine via a pre-determined correlation between charge density and NOx output.

    摘要: The present invention provides, with reference to FIG. 1, an internal combustion engine (10) having a fuel injector which comprises a sprung piston (55) or a resilient diaphragm piston (8155) and an electrical coil (57, 8158) for displacing the piston (55, 8155). The piston draws fuel into and expels fuel from a pumping chamber (52, 8152). The number of operations of the injector per engine cycle is controlled by an electronic controller (23, 8159) to control the quality of fuel delivered per cycle to a combustion chamber. A voltage measured in the coil (52, 8158) by movement of the piston under action of the spring or due to its own resilience is used to give an indication of vapour pressure of the fuel. A device akin to the injector can be used to draw fuel from a pipeline to measure the vapour pressure of the fluid.
