    摘要: A method of manufacturing containers, the method comprising the steps of (a) extruding an elongate tube of plastics material, the tube having a rectangular outer cross-section and an elongate central cylindrical cavity; (b) cutting the tube transversely into a plurality of container body portions; (c) sealing a base to one end of each body portion; and (d) sealing a top to the other end of each body portion. The invention also provides apparatus for manufacturing containers, comprising an extrusion device for extruding an elongate tube of plastics material, the tube having a rectangular cross-section and an elongate central cylindrical cavity, a cutting device for cutting the tube transversely into a plurality of container body portions, a first sealing means for sealing a base to one end of each body portion and a second sealing means for sealing a top to the other end of each body portion.

    摘要: The process for the production of double-walled mouldings for the reduction of sound in vehicles and engines in general by means of a single pressing operation consists in introducing into a compression mould a double package, each individual package consisting of a layer of prepolymer fibres and a foil of thermoplastics material. The foils of the individual packages are situated facing one another and a medium under pressure is blown in between these foils, in order to cause each package layer to be pressed against the internal face of the corresponding half-mould. The compression mould is heated to a temperature which is sufficient to cause complete melting of said foil and complete polymerization of said prepolymer fibres.

    摘要: Reinforced plastic composite articles which have a non-constant cross-sectional shape over their length, such that a first portion of the article has a different cross-sectional shape than a second portion of the article, and which portions may be integral with each other. In one embodiment, the article may have a non-constant cross-sectional shape with a constant cross-sectional volume over its length. In another embodiment, the article may have a non-constant cross-sectional shape and non-constant cross-sectional volume over its length. An apparatus and a method which utilizes a die having a die channel of non-constant cross-sectional shape is employed. In the apparatus, a pair of first and second die-forming members are used, and form in one or both of the die-forming members a die channel having a first portion of a cross-sectional shape which is different than a cross-sectional of a second die channel portion over the length of the die channel. One of the die-forming members may move relative to the other or both may move together at a constant speed in order to effectively pultrude a reinforced plastic composite article.

    摘要: This relates to the forming of containers and like hollow articles from sheets or webs of thermoplastic material. Two webs or sheets are simultaneously acted upon by way of a forming apparatus which includes a reciprocating clamp first cooperable with one outer platen and then the other in sequence wherein, while a first web or sheet is being formed within a plurality of mold cavities to define a plurality of hollow articles such as containers, the other sheet or web may be stripped from its respective mold set and a new sheet or a new portion of a sheet or web may be advanced into position for molding. The forming apparatus may be constructed in a manner wherein the web portions which are to be formed may be billowed away from the mold cavities as an initial step in the stretching and orientation of the thermoplastic material. The thermoplastic material may be heated to the desired forming temperature using separate sets of rf electrodes so that only those portions of the thermoplastic material which are to be formed need be heated. Two sets of containers of different sizes may be formed from the webs or sheets, and then internested to form double wall containers wherein the walls may be formed of different materials and wherein the outer material may be a barrier material, or wherein the walls of the containers are spaced apart to form an insulated container.
