Abstract:
A fuel additive composition comprising a solution or dispersion of an oil soluble metal carboxylate or metal complex derived from a compound of the formula: where R1, R2, R3 and R4 represent hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl having 1-30 carbon atoms (C1-C30), but at least two of R1, R2, R3 or R4 are C1-C30 hydrocarbyl; R5 is a hydrocarbyl having 1 to 120 carbon atoms and m and n may each be zero or an integer such that the total number of carbon atoms in the carboxylate is not more than 125.
Abstract:
A fuels additive metallic salt composition effective in improving the operation of diesel engine particulate traps when added to a diesel fuel so as to provide 1-25 ppm metal in the fuel which comprises an oil soluble or oil dispersible overbased metal salt of an acidic organic compound, said salt composition containing 5-85 wt. % of a stoichiometric excess of metal over that required to neutralize the anionic portion of the salt, the metal being selected from the group consisting of Ca, Fe, Mg, Sr, Na, Ti, Zr, Mn, Zn and Ce.
Abstract:
A method and an ester composition used therein for inhibiting, retarding, mitigating, reducing, controlling and/or delaying formation of hydrocarbon hydrates or agglomerates of hydrates. The method may be applied to prevent, reduce or mitigate plugging of conduits, pipes, transfer lines, valves, and other places or equipment where hydrocarbon hydrate solids may form under the conditions. At least one ester compound is added into the process stream, where the compound may be mixed with another compound selected from other amino alcohols, esters, quaternary ammonium, phosphonium or sulphonium salts, betaines, amine oxides, amides, simple amine salts, and combinations thereof.

Abstract:
A diesel fuel composition which improves the performance of diesel engine particulate exhaust traps comprising a diesel fuel containing a combination of 1-25 ppm of metal in the form of a metal salt additive and 100 to 500 ppm of an oil soluble nitrogen containing ashless detergent additive.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Corrosion of iron-containing metal surfaces in a hydrocarbon fluid having a temperature of from about 175.degree. C. to about 400.degree. C. and containing a corrosive amount of naphthenic acid is inhibited by adding to the fluid or to a feed therefor, in a total additive amount sufficient to effect corrosion inhibition in said fluid, one or more thiophosphorus compound, a salt thereof, an alkyl or aryl ester thereof, an isomer thereof, or some combination of the foregoing, thereby to effect inhibition of naphthenic acid induced corrosion in the fluid.
Abstract:
The present invention provides functional fluid compositions containing a major portion of oil of lubricating viscosity and a novel and synergistic combination of an acylated nitrogen-containing compound having an olefinic substituent averaging in carbon number from 20 to 60 and at least one ashless detergent/dispersant.
Abstract:
The invention relates to novel compositions comprising ene and free radical adducts of unsaturated and saturated hydrocarbons, and acyclic and cyclic vicinal polycarbonyl compounds such as diethyl ketomalonate and indantrione. The adducts are reacted with nucleophiles such as amines, electrophiles such as anhydrides and esters, and metal ions. Post-products are obtained via reaction of said products with capping reagents such as boric acid. Compositions containing said adducts, products and post-products include oleaginous substances such as fuels and lube oils.
