摘要: A thermal spray material comprising granules containing a rare earth oxyfluoride has a particle diameter of 1 to 150 μm at a cumulative volume of 50 vol % before ultrasonic dispersion and 10 μm or smaller after ultrasonic dispersion at 300 W for 15 minutes as determined by laser diffraction/scattering particle size distribution analysis. The particle diameter after ultrasonic dispersion is one-third or less of that before ultrasonic dispersion. The thermal spray material has an average aspect ratio of 2.0 or lower and a compressibility of 30% or less. When the granules further contain a rare earth fluoride, upon being analyzed by X-ray diffractometry using Cu-Kα or Cu-Kα1 radiation, S1/S2 is preferably ≧0.10. S1=intensity of the maximum peak assigned to the rare earth oxyfluoride. S2=intensity of the maximum peak assigned to the rare earth fluoride, both observed in a 2θ angle range of 20° to 40°.

The method includes preferentially coating cover ring relative other chamber components in the processing chamber, while under vacuum, and while a substrate is not present in the processing chamber. The substrate is subsequently etched the processing chamber. After etching, the interior of the processing chamber is cleaned after the substrate has been removed.

摘要: A method of forming a thermal barrier coating on a metal part includes laser cleaning a surface of the metal part to remove undesirable oxides and residues from the surface of the part. It further includes depositing an aluminum containing bondcoat on the part and thermally interdiffusing the bondcoat and the part with a heat treatment. Laser cleaning a surface of the bondcoat to remove oxides and debris from the surface forms an alpha aluminum oxide layer on the bondcoat. A ceramic topcoat is then deposited on the alpha aluminum oxide layer at a temperature above 1800° F. (982° C.).

摘要: A method for loading a hydroxyapatite coated implant with a therapeutic agent including the steps of providing an implant and applying a hydroxyapatite coating on a surface of the implant. The hydroxyapatite coated implant is contacted with a solution including the therapeutic agent. The hydroxyapatite coated implant and solution is heated to temperature of about 60° C. to about 100° C. Pressure is applied to the hydroxyapatite coated implant and solution from about 2 bar to about 10 bar, to load the hydroxyapatite coated implant with the therapeutic agent. An implant made according to the method has sustained therapeutic agent delivery and includes a base and a biomimetic hydroxyapatite coating disposed on a surface thereof.

摘要: An article having a damage-tolerant thermal barrier coating includes a plurality of coating layers disposed over a substrate. The plurality of coatings comprises an inner layer and an outer layer. The outer layer is more resistant to infiltration by nominal CMAS relative to 8 weight percent yttria-stabilized zirconia at a temperature of 1300 degrees Celsius. The inner layer has, in a temperature range from about 1000 degrees Celsius to about 1200 degrees Celsius, a thermal resistance in a range from about 9×10−5 degree Kelvin per watt to about 23×10−5 degree Kelvin per watt.

The tamper bar is connected to the piston rod with an upper surface of the tamper bar contacting a lower surface of the piston rod, wherein the piston rod is single-pieced with regard to its connecting means and its lower surface, and the heating layer is located between the piston rod and the tamper bar, especially applied to the lower surface of the piston rod.

The component further includes a conformal protective layer on at least one surface of the ceramic body, wherein the conformal protective layer is a plasma resistant rare earth oxide film having a substantially uniform thickness of less than 300 μm over the at least one surface and having a second average surface roughness of below 10 micro-inches, wherein the second average surface roughness is equal to or less than the first average surface roughness.
