摘要: A method of molding a headrest of automotive seat comprises the following steps. First, a bag shaped flexible outer skin member is prepared, has an elongate slit formed therethrough. A part of a stay member is inserted into the outer skin member through the slit and set relative to the outer skin member. A given biasing force is applied to longitudinal ends of the slit so that the slit is stretched in longitudinally opposed directions and thus caused to take a closed position. Then, an injection nozzle of a foamable material feeder is put into the slit by expanding the slit against the biasing force. A foamable material is poured into the outer skin member, and the material feeding is stopped when a given amount of material is fed to the outer skin member. The application of the biasing force to the slit is continued until the material is sufficiently cured.

摘要: A process of continuously packaging a thermoplastic composition such as a pressure sensitive hot melt adhesive. The method includes the steps of (a) forming a thermoplastic film to a rigid mold wherein said film becomes molten at or below the usage temperature of a hot melt adhesive composition, and the mold is in contact with ambient air; (b) dispensing hot melt adhesive into the lined mold; (c) disposing a thermoplastic film on the surface of the mold to form a packaged hot melt adhesive; (d) allowing the hot melt adhesive to reach a state in the presence of ambient air such that the packaged hot melt adhesive is removable from the mold.

摘要: To reduce the need for manual work, improve productivity and reduce the fabrication cost in the method for molding a lead screw for converting a rotational movement into a linear movement, there are provided a method and a die assembly which may involve the steps of forming a plurality of holes in a wall of a tube in a spiral arrangement, preparing a metallic die assembly provided with a cavity defining a thread groove adapted to form the thread crest matching in position with an array of the holes, placing the tube in the cavity, and injecting synthetic resin material into the cavity so that the synthetic resin material may flow in two separate flows, one flowing inside the core tube, and the other flowing along the outer surface of the core tube. The thread crest is connected to the synthetic resin material filled in the core tube, and can be securely attached to the core tube. Optionally, an annular rotor may be fitted onto the base end portion of the lead screw. The synthetic resin material is first filled into the annular gap defined around the annular rotor before it is filled into the interior of the annular rotor so that the rotor may be prevented from being damaged by the tensile stress produced by internal pressure acting on the annular rotor.

摘要: A modular assembly for separating a passenger compartment from an engine compartment in an automotive vehicle body comprises three structural cross car members that combine to provide sufficient cross car stiffness between the side pillars so as to eliminate any need for an upper cross car beam at the cowl of the vehicle body. The three structural cross car members include a front of dash panel, an intermediate close out panel and an instrument panel carrier that form two rows of ducts for meeting the needs of the heating, ventilating and air conditioning system of the vehicle and the wiring requirements of the instrument panel. The instrument panel carrier is part of a covered instrument panel subassembly that includes a shell and an underlying foam cushion. The foam cushion is foamed in place in a mold that includes a slide and pivot mechanism for manipulating a mold lid and clamp between a closed clamped position and a shaping position where the molded subassembly is accessible for a shaping operation.

摘要: An elastomeric member is incorporated between a conductor and a conductive interconnection bridge. This elastomeric member serves as a spring providing compliance to an interconnection so that the flatness requirements of an opposing mating structure may be relaxed. A flat metal mandrel is provided with an elongated curved depression extending across a predetermined region where a resilient interconnection bridge is to be located. A nonconductive layer of Teflon is bonded to the surface of the mandrel. Grooves are ablated in a predetermined configuration down to the conductive surface of the mandrel using an excimer laser and a computer-controlled x-y table. Fineline electrical circuits are electrodeposited into the ablated grooves. The elongated curved depression is filled with a silicone material. The silicone material is permitted to cure to form a compliant elastomeric member having the shape of the elongated curved depression. An insulating backing is laminated onto the electrical circuits and the elastomeric member, and the completed resilient interconnection bridge is removed from the mandrel. Another method is used when the interconnection site is terminated on a circuit pad or on a high density linear connector configuration. In this method, elastomeric material is dispensed onto the circuit pad or along a line transverse to the high density linear connectors. After the elastomeric material has cured, electrical conductors are bonded thereacross to form raised compliant interconnection features.
