    摘要: There is disclosed a water-swelling composition which comprises polyolefinpolyol-ethylene oxide addition product, a water-absorbing polymer and an isocyanate. The composition contains a water-absorbing polymer in an amount of from 5 to 200 parts by weight and an isocyanate in an amount of from 5 to 50 parts by weight, per 100 parts by weight of a polyolefinpolyol-ethylene oxide addition product. The composition can be used as a sealant in places which must be water or moisture tight in vehicles, buildings and various machines since it is capable of speedily swelling when contacted with water.

    摘要: There are provided magnetic and non-magnetic agarose and agar polyaldehyde beads with diameters ranging from 40 microns up to 1 cm, and processes for the synthesis of such beads. The polyaldehyde compounds e.g. polyacrolein, polymethacrolein or polyglutaraldehyde, were used as microspheres or as powders. The agarose-polyaldehyde beads are capable of covalently binding in a single step, through their aldehyde groups, compounds containing primary amino groups of thiol groups, such as proteins, antibodies, enzymes and drugs. The beads are useful for various biological applications e.g. affinity chromatography, hemoperfusion, ion exchange resins, cell labeling, diagnostic purposes and cell separation.

    摘要: A process for producing a molded article comprising a mixture of an olefin resin, which includes a residual chlorine due to a Ziegler type catalyst, a hydrolyzed ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and the hydrotalcite compounds having the formula:M.sub.x Al.sub.y (OH).sub.2x+3y-2z (E).sub.z.aH.sub.2 O(wherein "M" is Mg, Ca or Zn, "E" is CO.sub.3 or HPO.sub.4, "x", "y" and "z" are positive numbers and "a" is 0 or a positive number). The hydrotalcite is previously melt-mixed into the olefin resin in a proportion of 1/2z moles per mole of the residual chlorine in the olefin resin to 0.5% by weight based on the olefin resin to give an olefin resin composition, and the mixture of the olefin resin composition is melt-molded with the hydrolyzed ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer. According to the process, the gel formation can be remarkably reduced, the long run processability can be remarkably increased, and the molded articles having excellent qualities can be obtained.

    摘要: A porous and transparent hydrated gel is prepared from a poly(vinyl alcohol) solution in a mixed solvent consisting of water and an water-miscible organic solvent. Upon cooling the poly(vinyl alcohol) solution below room temperature, a gel is formed as a consequence of crystallization of poly(vinyl alcohol) molecules. Exchange of the organic solvent included in the gel with water produces a hydrated gel of poly(vinyl alcohol) which has a high tensile strength, a high water content, and a high light transmittance.
