Abstract:
A component is made for a vehicle plastic hollow article, such as a fuel tank, wherein the article includes a wall obtained from a plastic parison. The component is configured to be welded to the wall and includes a main hollow body including an external face, a shoulder protruding from the external face, and at least one recess configured to receive air when the shoulder contacts the wall during welding of the component.
Abstract:
A composite sandwich structure comprises a core sandwiched between composite laminate facesheets. The core includes a plurality of core sections spliced together at joints that incorporate integral features for arresting the propagation of irregularities in the facesheets.

Abstract:
A three-dimensional molded body, a method for producing a three-dimensional molded body and a method for producing an adhesive bond between a polymer-containing material and a molded body having an inorganic porous framework structure in at least partial areas are described. In all cases the porous structure of the molded body comprising inorganic material is brought in contact with a polymer-containing material which is heated until the heated material enters into a joint connection with the molded body based on adhesive interactions, interfacial interactions, electrostatic interactions or any combination thereof, in which the pore-like voids of the porous structure are filled completely with the polymer-containing material, which stabilizes the molded body so that it has dimensional stability after cooling.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a connecting structure for an aircraft or spacecraft, with a structural component and a stringer. The stringer is connected to the structural component by means of connecting regions. In order to reduce stress peaks that result for example from impact in the structural component, a high impact material is introduced into at least one of the connecting regions to provide a local increase in the energy absorbing capacity of the at least one connecting region.
Abstract:
A method for sealing a container comprising a cup and lid is disclosed. The cup has a lip with a raised sealing bead along its length. During sealing, the raised sealing bead compresses, thereby stretching the adhesive layer on the lower portion of the lid out of the way and forming a direct welded seal with the heat-resistant layer of the lid. The adhesive to either side of the sealing bead forms an adhesive seal between the lid and the remaining portion of the lip. This type of double seal is particularly effective in forming a durable, consistent seal when product is present on the lip of the container. The welded seal is also well suited to situations when the cup may be warped or the sealing bead is otherwise caused to be higher along some portion of its length than along other portions.
Abstract:
A hollow container is formed with a thin-walled, plastic body; and a discrete plastic handle is attached by ultrasonic energy to the plastic body. The handle has a pair of spaced bosses at each end of the handle with a central opening therein to receive an ultrasonic horn. A plurality of integral, energy-directing protrusions are spaced from one another on the bosses to be melted and mixed with the plastic of the container. The energy directors melt first and mix with the plastic of thin-walled bottle to provide a secure attachment. The preferred container and preferred handle are each made of PET plastic.
Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide a vehicle door trim bonding device capable of quickly bonding sub-trims. In order to achieve the objective, the present invention provides a vehicle door trim bonding device for coupling a first sub-trim in which a projection is formed and which is made of a thermoplastic resin material, and a second sub-trim in which a receiving hole for receiving the projection of the first sub-trim is formed and which is made of a thermoplastic resin material, the device comprising: a heat supply unit for melting a part of the protrusion with radiation heat; and a molding part for compression-molding the molten protrusion.

Abstract:
A component assembly includes a first part having a transparent section. The first part defines an outer surface. A second part is fixedly secured to the first part at a portion of the transparent section. The first and second parts create a connecting seam through the portion of the transparent section. An optically covering surface extends between the connecting seam and the outer surface of the first part to cover the connecting seam from view from the outer surface.
