Abstract:
A vehicle control system to prevent deterioration in controllability of the engagement device resulting from temporal deterioration of the engagement device. The vehicle control system is configured to switch a driving mode selectively between a first driving mode in which the engagement device is disengaged, and a second driving mode in which the engagement device is engaged. The vehicle control system comprises: an estimation means that estimates deterioration in an engagement property of the engagement device; and an engagement means that engages the engagement device after achieving synchronization between an input speed and an output speed, in case the estimation means estimates that the engagement property of the engagement device is deteriorated, and the driving mode is shifted from the first driving mode to the second driving mode.
Abstract:
There are disclosed a method of and an apparatus for regulating the operation of a friction clutch or another torque transmission system in the power train of a motor vehicle. The regulation is such that the operator of the vehicle is informed of a prevailing or impending condition which entails or is about to entail damage to the system or to the entire power train. Such situation can arise in response to excessive and/or prolonged slip of abutting friction surfaces in a friction clutch, overheating of one or more parts of the system for any other reason(s), as a result of improper selection of the transmission speed for starting of the vehicle and/or due to excessive wear upon the friction linings and/or other parts. The remedial undertaking can include such regulation of the system that the ride become uncomfortable to the occupant(s) of the vehicle and/or automatic elimination of the cause(s) of unsatisfactory torque transmission.

Abstract:
A clutch system for producing and interrupting a force flow between the engine and transmission of a motor vehicle, with a clutch, which is disengaged unless actuated, and one or more valves, which regulate the flow of pressure medium and which are electrically actuated by a control and regulation unit. If there is electrical failure while driving and when a gear is engaged or when the vehicle is stationary, the engine is running and a transmission gear is engaged, unintended clutch engagement is prevented. The valves are designed such that if there is a failure of the voltage supply and consequently also of the actuation of the valves by the electronic control and regulation system, the operating condition of the clutch existing at the time of failure, namely the disengaged or engaged operating condition, remains as it is.

Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus for the protection of a clutch against overheating, specifically a clutch which is located between a combustion motor and a transmission. To ensure protection of the clutch against overheating for most operating conditions, there is an apparatus to determine the drive torque for the determination of the clutch torque or the drive torque transmitted by the clutch, an apparatus for the determination of the slip between the clutch input speed and the clutch output speed, a computer apparatus to determine the product of the clutch or drive torque to be transmitted and the slip, and a monitoring apparatus which combines the value of the product of the clutch torque to be transmitted and the slip with alarm delay times and compares the current slip time with the alarm delay times, and when the alarm delay times are exceeded by the slip times, gives an alarm signal.
Abstract:
A temperature warning method of a friction element for issuing a warning depending on temperature of the friction element arranged between a power source and a driving wheel, includes issuing the warning when the temperature of the friction element exceeds an upper limit temperature, and making a period of time, from when the temperature of the friction element exceeds the upper limit temperature until when the warning is issued, longer when the temperature of the friction element exceeds the upper limit temperature for a first time than when the temperature of the friction element exceeds the upper limit temperature for a second or subsequent time.
Abstract:
A coaching system for drivers of vehicles monitors the power dissipation of a manual transmission clutch and, when the energy dissipated during an event is excessive, suggests modified driving technique. The system may monitor launch events, shift events, and steady state driving. The system may adjust the energy threshold at which a suggestion is provided based on vehicle weight or road gradient. The system may also adjust the energy threshold when an estimate of clutch temperature is elevated. The suggestion may be provided on a graphic display or may be provided verbally over a speaker. In some cases, the suggested may also be conveyed to a third party outside the vehicle.
Abstract:
An automatic start control apparatus of a vehicle having a function to automatically start the vehicle and not performing switching of a starting mode to a manual starting mode only by depression of a clutch pedal, but switching the starting mode to the manual starting mode upon operation of an accelerator pedal together with the clutch pedal thereby enhancing operability of automatic starting of the vehicle.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a motor vehicle comprising a drive motor and a gearbox with a device for automatically actuating a clutch in the drivetrain, and to a control method. According to said method, if the gear ratio is less than a threshold value and the actuation of a driving pedal is not equal to zero and is less than a threshold value, warning measures are initiated to alert the driver to misuse.
