A polymer brush with a plurality of repeat units wherein some portions of the repeat units have one or more grafting groups and some portions have one or more interface tuning groups is disclosed. The grafting groups are selected based on the identity of an inorganic substrate, and the interface tuning groups are selected based on the identity of a photoresist that will interact with the groups. A process of lithographic patterning and an electronic device comprising at least one integrated circuit formed by the process of lithographic patterning are disclosed as well. The process comprises providing an inorganic substrate, depositing the disclosed polymer brush onto the inorganic substrate, and depositing a photoresist onto the polymer brush. The process further comprises masking the photoresist with a photomask having a pattern, and applying energy to the masked photoresist to form an etch mask. The inorganic substrate is then etched.

The present invention aims to provide a coating material which has high mechanical stability and is capable of providing a coat which has excellent appearance and exhibits excellent damping properties in a wide temperature range. The present invention relates to a damping-imparting agent including a compound having a sulfosuccinic acid (salt) structure. The present invention also relates to a resin composition for damping materials, including an emulsion prepared by polymerizing a monomer component, the composition further including a component having a sulfosuccinic acid (salt) structure.

A radical-polymerizable resin composition comprising one or more metal-containing compounds (A) selected from a metal soap (A1) and a β-diketone skeleton-containing metal complex (A2); one or more thiol compounds (B) selected from a secondary thiol compound (B1) and a tertiary thiol compound (B2); and a radical-polymerizable compound (C) can stably cure under a dry condition, in water and in seawater and further on a wet substrate. The radical-polymerizable resin composition is useful as a repairing material for inorganic structure, a radical-polymerizable coating composition, a concrete spall preventing curable material, a reinforcing fiber-containing composite material, etc.

The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device which requires a reduced light irradiation dose in the alignment treatment for a photo-alignment film and achieves a favorable contrast ratio and a viewing angle property. The method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device includes, in the following order, the steps of: (1) forming on a substrate a film of a photo-alignment film material containing two or more polymers and a solvent; (2) pre-baking the film to evaporate the solvent; (3) post-baking the pre-baked film gradually at multiple temperatures from a low temperature to a high temperature; and (4) irradiating the post-baked film with polarized light, at least one of the two or more polymers being a photo-reactive polymer containing a photo-functional group in a side chain.

An aqueous coating composition including: a first emulsion polymer including, as copolymerized units, 5% to 50% styrene monomer, by weight based on the weight of the first emulsion polymer, wherein the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the first emulsion polymer is from 55° C. to 110° C.; a certain optional second emulsion polymer; and from 20% to 35%, by weight based on the total weight of the first emulsion polymer and the optional second emulsion polymer, coalescent selected from the group consisting of hexaoxatricosane, C4 alkyl glutarates, C4 alkyl succinates, C4 alkyl adipates, and mixtures thereof is provided. A method for providing a coating using the aqueous coating composition, particularly a coating for cementious substrates, the coating desirably providing superior hot tire pickup resistance is also provided.
