Abstract: A process for preparing vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymers in the form of an aqueous dispersion. The process includes providing an aqueous dispersion of vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymers and subjecting the aqueous dispersion of vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymers to radically initiated emulsion polymerization in a continuously operated tubular-reactor. Abstract: The present invention relates to preparation of heterogeneous mixtures of (carboxylated) vinyl ester/ethylene dispersions, such as vinyl acetate/ethylene (VAE) dispersions with polyamideamine-epichlorohydrin (PAE) wet strength resins having a reduced amount of halogenated organic compounds, such as less than 1500 ppm. The dispersion offers extremely low free and bound formaldehyde levels combined with wet tensile strength for use in non-woven textile and paper applications.

Abstract: Fire retardant compositions including a base polymer, a fire retardant filler, and a fire retardant synergist are disclosed. The fire retardant compositions are halogen-free and heavy metal-free and can be crosslinked to form a cable insulation layer or a cable jacket. The cables can pass the UL VW-1 flame test. Cables having coverings formed from such fire retardant compositions are also described herein.

Disclosed is a high pressure polyethylene polymerization system comprising a reactor, a primary compressor, and a secondary compressor, the secondary compressor comprising: a) a first stage, wherein the first stage comprises at least two cylinders, and the discharge pipes of the at least two cylinders are fluidly connected by a first stage discharge cross-connect pipe; b) a second stage; c) an interstage; and d) a first cooler applied to the interstage piping starting at a location within 10 meters downstream of the first stage discharge cross-connect pipe.

Abstract: The present method for producing a crosslinked product include the steps of: melt molding an ethylene copolymer (A) or a resin composition containing the ethylene copolymer (A); and carrying out crosslinking; wherein the ethylene copolymer (A) contains a constitutional unit derived from ethylene and a constitutional unit derived from an α-olefin having 3 to 20 carbon atoms, and satisfies the following requirements (1), (2) and (3): (1) a vinyl group content per 1,000 carbon atoms as measured by 1H-NMR is from 0.06 to 1; (2) a ratio MFR10/MFR2.16 is from 8.5 to 50; and (3) a density d is from 850 kg/m3 to 920 kg/m3. The present method for producing a crosslinked product is capable of providing a crosslinked product having a good moldability and an excellent mechanical strength. Further, the present method is capable of providing a foamed product which is light weight and excellent in mechanical strength, with an excellent productivity; as well as providing crosslinked molded articles whose dimensional variations between individual products are small.

Abstract: Disclosed is a battery electrode binder containing a polymer including (1) a constituent unit derived from a (meth)acrylate monomer (A) having a hydroxyl group, (2) a constituent unit derived from a vinyl ester monomer (B), and (3) a constituent unit derived from a polyfunctional (meth)acrylate monomer (C). Using the binder, an electrode is produced and adopted in a battery such as a lithium ion secondary battery. Obtained are: an aqueous binder that has a low environmental impact, has high adhesiveness, and in particular does not cause oxidative degradation in the electrode environment; and a battery and electrode using the binder.
