Abstract:
A method of creating a digitally printed, water-activated, peel-off and slide-on decal for permanent transfer to an object includes the steps of printing a layer of lacquer on top of a base layer of gum-coated decal paper comprising a cornstarch and dextrose coating having a thickness of between approximately 10 microns to approximately 30 microns, drying the lacquer layer for no more than 90 minutes, printing a full-color artwork with digital, light-cured printing ink in one printing pass onto the lacquer layer to produce a ready-decal sheet having a decal formed by the ink and the lacquer layer, the lacquer layer bonding to the ink and being sandwiched between the cornstarch and dextrose coating and the ink and—having a thickness of between approximately 150 micrometers and approximately 300 micrometers, and—curing the ink with light.
Abstract:
Devices, systems, and methods for detecting molecules of interest within a collected sample are described herein. In certain embodiments, self-contained sample analysis systems are disclosed, which include a reusable reader component, a disposable cartridge component, and a disposable sample collection component. The reader component may communicate with a remote computing device for the digital transmission of test protocols and test results. In various disclosed embodiments, the systems, components, and methods are configured to identify the presence, absence, and/or quantity of particular nucleic acids, proteins, or other analytes of interest, for example, in order to test for the presence of one or more pathogens or contaminants in a sample.

Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for improving vibration damping of a substrate, such as the underbody of an automobile. The method comprises applying a plastisol which comprises a polymeric component and a plasticizer. The fused plastisol has improved damping behavior as determined using Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analysis. Novel plastisols and novel plasticizers are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present specification discloses porous materials, methods of forming such porous materials, biocompatible implantable devices comprising such porous materials, and methods of making such biocompatible implantable devices.
Abstract:
Fiber-containing composites are described that contain woven or nonwoven fibers, and a cured binder formed from a binder composition that includes (1) a reducing sugar and (2) a crosslinking agent that includes a reaction product of a urea compound and a polycarbonyl compound. Exemplary reaction products for the crosslinking agent may include the reaction product of urea and an α,β-bicarbonyl compound or an α,γ-bicarbonyl compound. Exemplary fiber-containing composites may include fiberglass insulation.
