    摘要: A system and method for controlling an engine involves providing a pumping torque estimation model. The model distinguishes between pumping losses due to throttling and pumping losses due to valve flow losses. The model is implemented by a pair of look-up tables. The data in each look-up table reflect Pumping Mean Effective Pressure (PMEP), which is indicative of the pumping work. The throttling loss table provides a first contribution based on an engine delta pressure. The valve flow loss table provides a second contribution based on an engine speed and a relative airload. The first and second contributions are summed and then multiplied by a predetermined factor to convert the pumping work (PMEP) into pumping torque. The model will work with naturally-aspirated, turbo-charged and super-charged air induction configurations and provides improved altitude compensation. The model will also work with both spark-ignition and compression-ignition configurations.

The invention includes a semiconductor laser (10) with a semiconductor substrate (11), a laser layer (13) arranged on the semiconductor substrate, an array of waveguide ridges (18) arranged at a distance from the laser layer, and several strip-shaped lattice structures (23) arranged on the flat surface between the waveguide ridges. Processes for the production of such a semiconductor laser are also disclosed.

    摘要: A method of improving the operating characteristics of an internal combustion engine equipped with electronic throttle control employs variable cam timing to vary the phasing of the intake valves and/or exhaust valves so as to achieve lower feed gas emissions and improved fuel economy while delivering as closely as possible the desired torque. The method can be implemented using a fuel-lead strategy or an air-lead strategy. Whenever a change is requested in the amount of torque, the method responds by adjusting the amount of fuel flow, the spark timing, the position of the throttle and/or the positions of the intake valves and/or the exhaust valves so as to deliver the desired torque. The method adjusts those operating parameters in a way that improves the ability of the engine to deliver the desired torque, produce less feed gas emissions, idle more stably, and consume less fuel.
