Abstract: Disclosed herein are modified zeolites and methods for making modified zeolites. In one or more embodiments disclosed herein, a modified zeolite may include a microporous framework including a plurality of micropores having diameters of less than or equal to 2 nm. The microporous framework may include at least silicon atoms and oxygen atoms. The modified zeolite may further include organometallic moieties each bonded to a nitrogen atom of a secondary amine functional group comprising a nitrogen atom and a hydrogen atom. The organometallic moieties may comprise a hafnium atom that is bonded to the nitrogen atom of the secondary amine functional group. The nitrogen atom of the secondary amine function group may bridge the hafnium atom of the organometallic moiety and a silicon atom of the microporous framework.

Abstract: A compression ignition internal combustion engine (30) for a heavy-duty diesel vehicle comprising an exhaust system (32) comprising a composite oxidation catalyst (12, 42) and a soot filter substrate (44, 50) disposed downstream from the composite oxidation catalyst comprising: a substrate (5), preferably a honeycomb flow-through substrate monolith, having a total length L and a longitudinal axis and having a substrate surface extending axially between a first substrate end (I) and a second substrate end (O); two catalyst washcoat zones (1, 2) arranged axially in series on and along the substrate surface, wherein a first catalyst washcoat zone (1) having a length L1 and comprising a first catalyst washcoat layer (9), wherein L1 48.8 g/l (>0.8 g/in3), wherein a total platinum group metal loading in the first catalyst washcoat zone (1) defined in grams of platinum group metal per litre of substrate volume (g/l) is greater than a total platinum group metal loading in the second catalyst washcoat zone (2) and wherein the first catalyst washcoat zone (1) comprises one or more first alkaline earth metal components, preferably barium, supported on the first refractory metal oxide support material.

Abstract: A new method can be used for producing suitable improved carrier materials as a base material for catalysts for carrying out a direct oxidative esterification. In general, the catalyst is used to convert aldehydes with alcohols in the presence of oxygenic gases directly to the corresponding ester, for example, where (meth)acrolein can be converted to methyl(meth)acrylate. The catalysts used are characterized in particular by high mechanical and chemical stability as well as by good catalytic performance even over very long periods of time. This applies in particular to an improvement of catalyst service life, activity and selectivity in comparison to other catalysts.

Abstract: A method of dry reforming of methane (CH4) is provided. The method includes contacting at a temperature of 500 to 1000 degree Celsius (° C.) a reactant gas mixture including methane and carbon dioxide (CO2) with a bimetallic supported catalyst. The bimetallic supported catalyst includes a porous catalyst support and a bimetallic catalyst. The porous catalyst support includes aluminum oxide (Al2O3) and magnesium oxide (MgO). The bimetallic catalyst includes nickel (Ni) and copper (Cu) disposed on the porous catalyst support. The method further includes collecting a product gas mixture including hydrogen (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO). The bimetallic supported catalyst includes 8 to 16 weight percent (wt. %) nickel and 2 to 14 wt. % copper, each based on a total weight of bimetallic supported catalyst.

Abstract: In certain exemplary embodiments, an air purifier comprises a housing defining an enclosure and having an air entrance and an air exit; a particulate filter; a NCCO filter material configured to adsorb and decompose at least one gaseous pollutant; an AOG configured to generate at least one oxidant; an oxidant remover configured to remove at least one oxidant; a fan unit configured to generate airflow from the air entrance to the air exit; wherein the particulate filter, the NCCO filter material, the AOG, the oxidant remover and the fan unit are positioned within the enclosure such that during operation, a flow of air passes from the air entrance to the air exit through the particulate filter and the NCCO filter material along a direction of the flow of air. In certain embodiments, the air purifier may ensure safety to users while efficiency in removing contaminants can be greatly improved.

Abstract: The invention relates to a photocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction method carried out in liquid and/or gas phase under irradiation, using a photocatalyst containing a first semiconductor, particles comprising one or more metallic-state elements M, and a second semiconductor SC, wherein the method is carried out by contacting a feedstock containing the CO2 and at least one sacrificial compound with the photocatalyst, then irradiating the photocatalyst such that the CO2 is reduced, and oxidising the sacrificial compound in order to produce an effluent containing at least in part C1 or above carbon molecules other than CO2.
