A computer implemented method for determining item availability in a shopping space comprising: receiving a request for an item for purchase, instructing a motorized transport unit to travel to a display space in the shopping space corresponding to the item for the purchase, determining whether the item is available in the display space based on information captured by one or more sensors of the motorized transport unit, and in an event that the item for purchase is not available in the display space: determining an item unavailable response to present to the customer.

Abstract: A discharge circuit for a power supply circuit for a motor is configured to discharge a capacitor provided in the power supply circuit. The discharge circuit includes a first voltage detector detecting a voltage inputted to a primary side of the power supply circuit, a second voltage detector detecting a voltage on the secondary side, and a discharge resistance provided in parallel with the power supply circuit on the secondary side of the power supply circuit. A power supply control means performs discharge control when a voltage detected by the second voltage detector exceeds a regenerative determination value and, in a case that a voltage on the primary side detected by the first voltage detector becomes lower than a power failure determination value, the power supply control means performs the discharge control after a lapse of a time period required for a stop operation of the industrial robot.

Abstract: A power storage system performing charging and discharging with an external system includes first and second battery units connected in parallel and each including a plurality of battery packs connected in parallel to a power converter. The power storage system includes a controller controlling operation of each power converter. The first and second battery units include a first battery pack and a second battery pack higher in internal resistance than the first battery pack, as the plurality of battery packs. The controller selects two second battery packs from a plurality of second battery packs included in the power storage system. In a standby state where charging and discharging are not performed with the external system, the controller performs, at different timings, control to discharge one of the selected two second battery packs and thereby charge the other, and control to discharge the other and thereby charge the one.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention are directed at a method and system for recharging batteries for wireless electronic devices. According to one embodiment, a battery charging and monitoring system is disclosed. The system includes a host machine providing a plurality of charging slots and a plurality of wireless devices coupled to and powered by a plurality of batteries. The host machine is adapted to communicate with the plurality of wireless devices through a plurality of wireless links to monitor the plurality of batteries coupled to the wireless devices. According to another embodiment, an electronic device is disclosed. The electronic device is adapted to couple with at least a rechargeable battery and to negotiate with the rechargeable battery for an agreed range of power parameters. The electronic device is further adapted to accept power from and to provide power to the rechargeable battery at the agreed range of power parameters.

Abstract: Some embodiments include apparatuses providing control over movement of motorized transport units at a retail facility, comprising: multiple self-propelled motorized transport units; a wireless communication network; and a central computer system, wherein the central computer system comprises: a transceiver; a control circuit; and a memory storing computer instructions that when executed cause the control circuit to: receive an override command, from a worker associated with the retail facility, to cause a first motorized transport unit of the multiple motorized transport units to implement one or more actions; confirm a valid authorization of the worker to override one or more operating limits of the first motorized transport unit; and override the one or more operating limits and communicate one or more instructions to the first motorized transport unit configured to cause the first motorized transport unit to implement the one or more actions in accordance with the override command.

Abstract: Embodiments of information handling systems (IHSs) having rechargeable batteries and improved battery charge control methods are provided herein. For example, a method is disclosed for dynamically switching between a plurality of battery charging profiles, each having different recharge thresholds and charge termination thresholds for controlling battery recharge. Such a method may include detecting discharge current from a rechargeable battery of an IHS, determining whether or not the IHS is coupled to an external power source, and switching from using a first battery charging profile to using a second battery charging profile to recharge the rechargeable battery in response to detecting the discharge current while the IHS is coupled to the external power source and/or determining that the discharge current is a short term supplemental power event.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a classification of shaded area and a light unit being configured for illumination. A solar panel is configured for at least providing an energy output during exposure of shade being classified by the classification of shaded area. A rechargeable storage device is configured for storing at least a portion of the energy output as stored energy. The stored energy recharges the rechargeable storage device. A safety device is configured for at least protecting the rechargeable storage device from substantial overcharging during exposure of direct sunlight. A cutoff threshold is configured for at least preventing a deep discharging of the rechargeable storage device. An illumination mode comprises at least the rechargeable storage device providing the stored energy, the light unit providing the illumination, the illumination lasting for at least 5 hours, and the cutoff threshold preventing the deep discharging of the rechargeable storage device.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling charging of multiple electric vehicles (EVs) arriving at, and departing from, different charging stations at different times, includes scheduling charging of each EV of the multiple EVs responsive to which one of a plurality of categories each EV is assigned, each EV being assigned to one of the categories according to an arrival time at an associated one of the different charging stations, a departure time from the associated one of the different charging stations, an initial state of charge (SoC) of the EV, and a target SoC of the EV, and controlling charging of each EV responsive to the scheduling of charging for the assigned category of each EV. Charging demand may be selected by each EV as being reliable or flexible with flexible charging demand having a minimum target SoC and maximum target SoC.
