An internal combustion engine exhaust gas system includes an EGR arrangement adapted to lead a first flow of exhaust gas, the EGR flow, from an outlet side of the engine to an inlet side of the engine, an exhaust gas conduit adapted to lead away a second flow of exhaust gas, the exhaust flow, from the outlet side of the engine, and an energy recovering unit, such as a turbo, associated with the exhaust gas conduit. The unit is adapted to recover exhaust gas energy from the exhaust flow. The system includes a heat exchanger adapted to allow heat exchange between at least a part of the EGR flow and at least a part of the exhaust flow, the heat exchanger being associated with the exhaust gas conduit at a position downstream the energy recovering unit.

A method and apparatus for piloting a vehicle is herein disclosed. The method entails first using a lane keeping system to detect objects in lanes adjacent to the lane currently occupied by the vehicle and then adjusting the position of the vehicle within the occupied lane-relative to a detected object.

A diagnosis method and a gas sensor that is adapted to perform the diagnosis method are described for detecting a damage of a gas sensor causing a malfunction, particularly a crack, wherein the gas sensor has at least two chambers with one chamber comprising a reference gas. The method includes pumping out gas of one of the chambers, measuring a value of a variable being proportional to the concentration of the gas as a function of time, comparing the measured variable value and/or the measured time to a predetermined threshold, detecting a damage of the sensor if the measured variable value and/or the measured time is outside the interval of normal mode of operation defined by the corresponding predetermined threshold.

Method and system for supporting path control are disclosed for supporting path control especially of a vehicle on a road or in an off-road environment, or of a ship or an airplane. The supporting of path control is especially provided by conducting at least one of the following steps (a) and (b): (a) estimating an actual future path of the vehicle on the basis of vehicle movement data and at least one of optically, acoustically, and tactilely indicating the estimated actual future path to the driver, (b) detecting the actual present path of the vehicle, estimating a present deviation of the detected actual present path from a desired present path and at least one of optically, acoustically, and tactilely indicating the estimated present deviation to the driver.

Opposite to the feed inlet side a particulate outlet is arranged with a collector compartment attached to the particulate outlet for collecting particulates retained in the feed gas channels.

The combustion engine is cranked to switch it from its inactive state to its active state. Application of cranking torque to the combustion engine is controlled in operation to substantially temporally coincide with a gear change in the gearbox.
