Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing catechol in a one-pot by reacting (4S,5R,6S)-4,5,6-trihydroxy-2-cyclohexene-1-one under hydrogen-reducing conditions while heating.
Abstract:
Use of ionic liquids as solvents in base-catalysed chemical reactions wherein the ionic liquid is composed of at least one species of cation and at least one species of anion, characterised in that a cation of the ionic liquid comprises a positively charge moiety and a basic moiety, and further wherein such ionic liquids may be used as promoters or catalysts for the chemical reactions.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of nanosized metal particles (e.g., ruthenium) grafted on inert solid support for oxidation of alkenes. The supported metal catalyst can effect cis-dihydroxylation and oxidative cleavage of alkenes to give the respective cis-diols and carbonyl products.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Described are alkyl-substituted spiroundecenone derivatives defined according to the structure: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents isopropyl or hydrogen; R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are the same and each represents methyl or hydrogen; with the provisos that:(i) when R.sub.1 is isopropyl, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are hydrogen; and(ii) when R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each methyl, R.sub.1 is hydrogen, and uses thereof in augmenting or enhancing the aroma of perfume compositions, colognes and perfumed articles including but not limited to solid or liquid anionic, cationic, nonionic or zwitterionic detergents, fabric softener compositions, fabric softener articles and hair preparations; as well as processes for preparing said alkyl-substituted spiroundecenone derivatives.
Abstract:
##STR1## New tetra-alkyl-2,2,5,5 cyclohexanone-4-ol-1 and their sulfonated derivatives of the general formula (I), wherein R and R', which may be the same or different, represent an alkyl radical (1-5 atoms of carbon) and R' represents a hydrogen atom or a radical SO--R'" wherein R'" represents an alkyl radical (1-5 atoms of carbon) or an aryl radical (6-14 atoms of carbon), their preparation intermediaries and process, as well as their application to the synthesis of cyclopropanic lactones having the cis structure.
Abstract:
A process for fermentatively hydrogenating and reducing ketoisophorone to produce optically active [4R,6R]-4-hydroxy-2,6,6-trimethyl-cyclohexanone useful as an intermediate in the production of optically active carotenoids and intermediates in the production of these carotenoids.
Abstract:
This invention relates to the conversion of poly-exomethylene cyclohexanes and poly-exomethylene cylcohexenes to ketone cyclic compounds and hydroxy aromatic compounds. The exo-methylene groups (=CH2) are first converted to ozonides and the ozonide is then converted to ketones which rearrange to the hydroxy cyclic and aromatic compounds. The resultant hydroxy compounds are used as antioxidants, preservatives, intermediates for making resins, plastics, adhesives, pharmaceuticals, and dyes.
Abstract:
C2 AND HIGHER ALKYL BENZOLY HALIDES ARE SUBJECED TO ELECTROLYTIC FLUORINATION IN A FLUORINATIONCELL UNDER CONDITIONS PRODUCING CORRESPONDING PERFLUORINATED (ALKYL CYCLOHEXANE) CARBONYL FLUORIDES IN HIGH YIELD AND WITH MINIMUM DESTRUCTION OF THE CARBONYL FUNCTION. PERIODIC REVERSAL OF POLARITY, CIRCULATION OF HF ELECTROLYTE, AND PROLONGED UNIFORM PRODUCTION RATE SUBSEQUENT TO AN INDUCTION PERIOD OF SEVERAL DAYS ARE DESCRIBED AS CONTRIBUTING FACTORS. PERFLUORO AND POLYFLUORO CYCLOHEXANE CARBONYL FLUORIDES, PARTICULARLY THOSE CONTAINING A 4 PERFLUOROALKYL SUBSTITUENT, ARE CONVERTED TO AMIDES OR ESTERS HAVING POLYMERIZABLE UNSATURATION. SEGMENTED COPOLYMERS SUCH AS POLYBUTADIENE-POLY (PERFLUROR-4-N BUTYL CYCLOHEXANE) CARBINOL ACRYLATE IMPART SOIL REPELLANCY AND RELATED PERFLUORO SURFACE PROPERTIES TO SUBSTRATES SUCH AS TEXTILES. FABRICS TREATED WITH SUCH COPOLYMERS AND THERMALLY CURED, AND CONTAINING AS LITTLE AS 0.5% FLUORINE, HAVE ACCEPTABLE OIL AND WATER REPELLENCY.
