摘要: A method for in-vitro production of a cohesive cartilage construct includes the following steps: a) propagating chondrogenic cells derived from a subject to allow formation of one or more cartilage micro constructs; b) putting a plurality of the cartilage micro constructs in motion to facilitate contact between the cartilage micro constructs and thereby allow formation of one or more fused cartilage micro constructs; and c) subjecting one or more of the fused cartilage micro constructs to mechanical stimulation in a hypoxic environment to allow formation of a cohesive cartilage construct.

摘要: A self-reinforcing composite gel includes a solvent, and a plurality of swellable crosslinked polymer particles dispersed in a crosslinked polymer matrix, wherein the crosslinked polymer matrix and the plurality of swellable crosslinked polymer particles are immersed in the solvent, wherein the swellable crosslinked polymer particles absorb more solvent at equilibrium than the matrix polymer, and wherein the plurality of swellable crosslinked polymer particles swell in the solvent and are present in an amount sufficient to maintain or increase the elastic modulus and/or load-bearing ability of the self-reinforcing composite gel, i.e., compared to that of the crosslinked matrix polymer alone, upon swelling in the solvent.

摘要: Provided herein are methods utilizing microfluidics for the oxygen-controlled generation of microparticles and hydrogels having controlled microparticle sizes and size distributions and products from provided methods. The included methods provide the generation of microparticles by polymerizing an aqueous solution dispersed in a non-aqueous continuous phase in an oxygen-controlled environment. The process allows for control of size of the size of the aqueous droplets and, thus, control of the size of the generated microparticles which may be used in biological applications.
