Abstract: Systems and methods in which dot-like portions of a material (e.g., a viscous material such as a solder paste) are printed or otherwise transferred onto an intermediate substrate at a first printing unit, the intermediate substrate having the dot-like portions of material printed thereon is transferred to a second printing unit, and the dot-like portions of material are transferred from the intermediate substrate to a final substrate at the second printing unit. Optionally, the first printing unit includes a coating system that creates a uniform layer of the material on a donor substrate, and the material is transferred in the individual dot-like portions from the donor substrate onto the intermediate substrate at the first printing unit. Each of the first and second printing units may employ a variety of printing or other transfer technologies. The system may also include material curing and imaging units to aid in the overall process.

Abstract: A thin-film coating applicator assembly is disclosed for coating substrates in outdoor applications. The innovative thin-film coating applicator assembly is adapted to apply performance enhancement coatings on installed photovoltaic panels and glass windows in outdoor environments. The coating applicator is adapted to move along a solar panel or glass pane while applicator mechanisms deposit a uniform layer of liquid coating solution to the substrate's surface. The applicator assembly comprises a conveyance means disposed on a frame. Further disclosed are innovative applicator heads that comprise a deformable sponge-like core surrounded by a microporous layer. The structure, when in contact with a substrate surface, deposits a uniform layer of coating solution over a large surface.

Abstract: An adhesive application apparatus is provided. The apparatus uses a rolled on adhesive applied to a substrate. After roll application, an adhesive activator is sprayed onto the substrate. By spraying an activator onto the substrate after the adhesive is applied, the adhesive may be made tacky for adhesion, but the adhesive used for rolling may be highly stable and slow to dry/cure without said activator, which enhances rolled application effectiveness.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for applying adhesive to a compressor liner having a longitudinal central axis. A first roller has a longitudinal central axis and has an outer circumferential surface which is immersed in adhesive in an adhesive sink. A second roller has a longitudinal central axis and is radially spaced apart from the first roller. The second roller has same outer diameter as the first roller and has an outer circumferential surface which is not immersed in adhesive in the adhesive sink. The first and second rollers cooperate to support the compressor liner for rotation about its longitudinal central axis. A drive mechanism includes a constant speed drive for rotating the first and second rollers about their longitudinal central axes at a constant rotational speed to allow a consistent weight and uniform layer of adhesive to be transferred from the first roller to the compressor liner.

Abstract: A portable crafting tool, which may be readily transported from one location to another and placed on a tabletop or another suitable surface for use, and which includes rollers for applying pressure to a craft assembly, is disclosed. The craft assembly may include a platform with a tool, such as a cutting die, an embossing tool and/or a letterpress tool, a sheet of a medium (e.g., paper, vellum, acetate, foil, etc.) that is to be modified (as pressure is applied to the craft assembly) and a mat or a cover for positioning over the sheet of medium and the tool. The portable crafting tool may include a gap spacer, which adjusts a distance that the rollers are spaced apart from one another. The portable crafting tool may be configured for selective operation with a manually operated handle or with a motor that may be used in place of the handle. The portable crafting tool may be configured to engage a surface when it is deployed on the surface.
