A molded article made of a light-diffusing resin composition which can color transmitted light, and use of the molded article are provided. In the molded article made of a light-diffusing resin composition (hereinafter “molded article”), the light-diffusing resin composition contains a thermoplastic resin and transparent particles which are dispersed in the resin and which have a volume-average particle size of 1-100 μm. The molded article has a total light transmittance of 85% or higher, and a degree of dispersion of 20° or less, wherein the degree of dispersion is defined as a transmission angle at which a light transmittance is 50% of a rectilinear light transmittance when light is emitted to a surface of the molded article in a direction normal to the surface. An average rectilinear light transmittance at wavelengths from 410-500 nm is greater than an average rectilinear light transmittance at wavelengths from 500-600 nm.

Abstract:
There is provided a light diffuser which can alleviate glare of light emitted from a light source while preventing a decrease in brightness of the emitted light despite the presence of the light diffuser. The light diffuser, contains a thermoplastic resin and transparent particles added thereto. The light diffuser has a total light transmittance in a range of 50 to 85%, and a wavelength selectivity in a rectilinear light ratio in a range of 1.5 to 5.0, as obtained by following formulas (1)-(3): (wavelength selectivity in rectilinear light ratio)=(rectilinear light ratio of 550-nm light)/(rectilinear light ratio of 450-nm light) (1) (rectilinear light ratio of 550-nm light)=(rectilinear light transmittance for 550-nm light)/(total transmittance for 550-nm light) (2) (rectilinear light ratio of 450-nm light)=(rectilinear light transmittance for 450-nm light)/(total transmittance for 450-nm light) (3).
Abstract:
Polystyrene-based composite resin particles includes 100 to 500 parts by weight of a polystyrene-based resin with respect to 100 parts by weight of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resin. The polystyrene-based composite resin particles are impregnated with a volatile blowing agent and are pre-expanded to obtain pre-expanded particles; the obtained pre-expanded particles are immersed in tetrahydrofuran for 24 hours to obtain an extract A; and the pre-expanded particles are divided into two halves through the center to prepare halved particles, and the halved particles are immersed in tetrahydrofuran for 24 hours to obtain an extract B; and the obtained extract A and extract B are subjected to a GPC (gel permeation chromatography) measurement and obtain the following results: the polystyrene-based resin having a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of 100,000 to 500,000 gives a peak obtained from chromatograms for the extract A and for the extract B.
