Abstract: Embodiments of an enhanced node B (eNB) and methods for network-assisted interference cancellation with reduced signaling in a 3GPP LTE network are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the number of transmission options is reduced by introducing a smaller signaling codebook. In some embodiments, higher-layer feedback from the UE to the eNodeB is established to inform the eNB about certain NA-ICS capabilities of the UE. In some embodiments, the number of signaling options is reduced by providing only certain a priori information. In some embodiments, correlations in the time and/or frequency domain are exploited for reducing the signaling message. In some embodiments, differential information is signaled in the time and/or frequency domain for reducing the signaling message.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) can include processing circuitry configured to, during a physical random access channel (PRACH) procedure, select a first synchronization signal (SS) block from a plurality of SS blocks within a received SS burst set, the SS block selected based on signal quality measurements of the plurality of SS blocks. A PRACH preamble is encoded for transmission to a base station using a PRACH resource subset corresponding to the selected SS block, the transmission using a UE transmit (Tx) beam of a plurality of available Tx beams and transmit power indicated by a power ramping counter. Upon failing to detect a random access response (RAR) from the base station, a second SS block is selected, the power ramping counter is reset, and the PRACH preamble is encoded for re-transmission using a second PRACH resource subset and transmit power indicated by the reset power ramping counter.

Abstract: An apparatus of a New Radio (NR) User Equipment (UE), a method and system. The apparatus includes one or more processors to encode a two part CSI including: encode a two part CSI including: encoding information bits of a first channel state information (CSI) type and information bits of a second CSI part to generate, respectively, encoded bits of a first CSI part and encoded bits of a second CSI part, a payload size of the second CSI part being based on encoded bits of the first CSI part and further being encoded separately from information bits of the first CSI part; and mapping the encoded bits of the first CSI part onto a first physical resource and the encoded bits of the second CSI part onto a second physical resource different from the first physical resource; and configure the two part CSI in a long or short PUCCH for transmission to a NR evolved Node B (gNodeB).

Some of these embodiments describe an apparatus having processing circuitry arranged to configure a single-tone discovery signal for transmission in a symbol in a transmission opportunity based on an assignment pattern. The assignment pattern may define frequency positions, for a set of transmission opportunities, at which the apparatus shall transmit discovery signals in the corresponding transmission opportunity. The apparatus may have physical layer circuitry arranged to transmit the single-tone discovery signal in the corresponding transmission opportunity. Other methods and apparatuses are also described.

Abstract: User equipment (UE), an enhanced NodeB (eNB) and method of reducing handover latency are generally described. The UE may transmit measurement feedback to the eNB based on control signals. The UE may receive a reconfiguration message from the eNB or another eNB to the UE is attached. The reconfiguration message may contain reconfiguration information indicating whether or not a physical layer or layer 2 of the UE is to be reconfigured and/or a security key is to be updated. The reconfiguration information may be dependent on whether the handover is between eNBs controlled by a same entity and/or whether the handover comprises an intra-frequency transition. The UE or eNB may initiate handover of the UE. During handover the UE may avoid physical layer or layer 2 reconfiguration or the security key update. The security key and data for the UE may be provided directly between the eNBs.

Abstract: A small cell station communicates with user equipment utilizing a reduced overhead demodulation reference signal (DMRS) pattern when good channel conditions are detected. An indicator field is used to identify whether a reduced overhead DMRS pattern is being transmitted. If appropriate, the reduced overhead DMRS pattern is generated and transmitted by the small cell station and received and used by the user equipment as indicated by the indicator field.
