Such nonwoven loop materials are highly useful for hook and loop type closures or fastening systems in or on personal care products, protective wear garments, medical care products, bandages and the like.

摘要： A process for producing a heat-sealable polymeric film comprises the steps of: (a) melt-extruding a substrate layer of polymeric material; (b) stretching the substrate layer in a first direction; (c) optionally stretching the substrate layer in a second, orthogonal direction; (d) optionally heat-setting the stretched substrate layer; (e) forming a heat-sealable coating layer on a surface of the substrate layer by melt-coating directly thereon a molten polymeric material; and (f) cooling the coated substrate layer; wherein coating step (e) is prior to step (b) or between steps (b) and (c); wherein the thickness of the coating layer is less than about 8 μm; wherein the molten polymeric material of the coating layer comprises a copolyester, and wherein the molten polymeric material comprises a copolyester.

摘要： A filter made from a nonwoven spunbond web comprising a plurality of continuous intertwined filaments, each filament having a diameter of about 25 to about 100 microns, predominantly present in the web as loop springs having diameters of about 1 to 3 millimeters. The web is made from a plurality of spunbond filaments laid randomly onto a moving belt. The webs of the present invention find particular utility when formed into cylinders as filters for smoking articles. In the smoking articles, the filters of the invention have a desirable degree of firmness while demonstrating an acceptable pressure drop.

摘要： Thermoformed polymeric foam articles and methods of forming the same are described. In some embodiments, thermoformed articles are produced from multi-layer foamed sheet where the formed article has a density equal to or less than the precursor multi-layer sheet. One of the layers of the thermoformed article may be a polymer foam layer having a density reduction between 5% and 50% as compared to the solid polymer. Such polymer foam layers can be referred to as “medium density” or “high density” foams. Advantageously, the methods described herein are practical for commercial use and, for example, can be used to produce a variety of thermoformed articles suitable for use in many different applications.

The slits may be interrupted by a bridging region of the backing, or the slits may be partial slits that penetrate the thickness of the backing in a range from 40 to 90 percent. A fastening laminate that includes a carrier and the hook strip described above joined to the carrier is also provided. In some embodiments, the fastening laminate includes slits that form separate, abutting portions of the backing on the carrier. An absorbent article containing the hook strip and a method of making the hook strip are also disclosed.
