    摘要： A preform assembly for use with a resin transfer molding apparatus. The preform comprises an upper liner formed to the shape of a first mold half, the upper liner having a peripheral portion, a dry fabric preform, and a lower liner formed to the shape of a second mold half, the lower liner having a peripheral portion. The preform is sandwiched between the upper liner and lower liner to form the preform assembly having peripheral portions which extend beyond the preform to form a sealing area. The upper liner is sealed to the lower liner at the sealing area. The preform assembly facilitates the loading of the preform into a molding apparatus as well as facilitating the handling and storage of the preform prior to and subsequent to molding. Methods of making the preform assembly, as well as a composite article, are also disclosed

    摘要： A fibrous web carried by a thin film disposed on a conveyor passes under a number of spray tubes which pour thereon a plastic material in liquid form which has been de-gassed under vacuum in a gas eliminating apparatus. The liquid absorbs gases from the fibres and overflows laterally into a lower trough from which it is recycled into the gas eliminating apparatus. The web is thus progressively de-gassed and impregnated with de-gassed plastic material. It is then covered by another thin film to form a sandwiched complex product for further operations.

    摘要： An apparatus and process for longitudinally encapsulating a bundle of aligned fibers within an elastomeric tube of smaller diameter than the normal diameter of the bundle in which: the tube is confined within a tubular inner channel of an openable casing, the diameter of the casing being at least as large as the normal diameter of the bundle; the ends of the tube are slipped over nipples at each end of the channel; air is pressured into the tube via one of the nipples thereby expanding the tube outwardly against the channel wall; the bundle of fibers is drawn through one of the nipples into the expanded tube; and the tube is depressurized to permit it to contract radially about the bundle of fibers.
