Abstract: An optical device may include a laser emitter to generate a first laser beam and a second laser beam with orthogonal polarization states. The optical device may include first and second photodetectors to generate respective first currents based on optical powers of the first and second laser beams. The optical device may include a polarization-based beam splitter to combine the first and second laser beams. The optical device may include a wavelength filter to filter the first and second laser beams based on respective wavelengths of the first and second laser beams. The optical device may include a third photodetector and a fourth photodetector to generate respective second currents based on optical powers of the first and second laser beams after filtration. The wavelengths of the first and second laser beams may be controlled based on the first currents and the second currents.

Abstract: A laser apparatus includes first and second gain media; first, second, and third wavelength selection filters; and first and second mirrors. The wavelengths of first and second laser light emitted from end surfaces of the first and second gain media, respectively, are different from each other. The third wavelength selection filter is a wavelength selection filter to select light having wavelengths that cyclically exist in the light, as light to be selected. The other end surfaces of the first and second gain media are connected with the first input/output ports of the first and second wavelength selection filters, respectively. The fourth input/output ports of the first and second gain media are connected with the first and second mirrors, respectively. The first and second input/output ports of the third wavelength selection filter are connected with the second input/output ports of the first and second wavelength selection filters, respectively.

Abstract: A laser module according to the present disclosure includes a laser diode, a first collimating lens, and a beam twister. The laser diode includes a plurality of emitters and emits laser light from each of the plurality of emitters through a light emission surface. The first collimating lens is provided at a first distance from the light emission surface of the laser diode and parallelizes a fast-axis-wise divergence of the laser light. The beam twister is provided at a second distance away from the first collimating lens and turns the laser light approximately 90 degrees. Each of the plurality of emitters has a width of 5 μm to 120 μm on the light emission surface. The plurality of emitters have a pitch of 295 μm to 305 μm on the light emission surface.

The multilayer structure includes a light emitting structure, a first electrode structure, and a second electrode structure. In the semi-insulating substrate and the first semiconductor layer, a first grove which separates the second electrode structure from a remaining portion and approaches the second electrode structure with a non-linear shape rather than a linear shape in its entirety is formed.

Abstract: A semiconductor laser has a mirror formed in a gain chip. The mirror can be placed in the gain chip to provide a broadband reflector to support multiple lasers using the gain chip. The mirror can also be placed in the gain chip to have the semiconductor laser be more efficient or more powerful by changing an optical path length of the gain of the semiconductor laser.

Abstract: A light source apparatus of the present invention has a plurality of semiconductor laser devices and a holding member; the semiconductor laser device includes: a semiconductor laser element; a placing body on which the semiconductor laser element is mounted; a substrate on which the placing body is biased to one side thereof; and a pair of terminals electrically connected to the semiconductor laser element, biased to the other side of the substrate and protruding from the substrate, and the holding member includes: holes aligned in at least a pair of rows; a thin-walled section on which the holes are arranged, the thin-walled section being formed by providing at least a pair of depressions on the other side; and a thick-walled section provided adjacent to the thin-walled section. The semiconductor laser device is mounted on one side of the holding member and the placing body of the semiconductor laser device is disposed on the thick-walled section, and the pair of terminals are exposed through the holes from the other side of the holding member.

Abstract: A semiconductor light source driving apparatus of the present disclosure includes a switching power supply that supplies a DC voltage, a power source switching FET, a coil, an inverting FET driver, a semiconductor light source device, and a free-wheeling diode. The power source switching FET switches on/off an output of a positive terminal of the switching power supply in accordance with an input PWM signal. The coil has a first end connected to the output of the power source switching FET. The inverting FET driver is connected between a second end of the coil and a negative terminal of the switching power supply and switched on/off in accordance with an input signal. The semiconductor light source device is connected between the second end of the coil and the negative terminal of the switching power supply. The first end of the coil and the negative terminal of the switching power supply are connected to the free-wheeling diode.

Abstract: A laser unit includes: multi-mode semiconductor lasers configured to output laser lights in multi-mode; an optical multiplexer configured to multiplex and output the laser lights; a multi-mode optical fiber configured to connect the multi-mode semiconductor lasers to the optical multiplexer, and including a core portion, a cladding portion, and a coated portion; a first bending portion formed to the multi-mode optical fiber and bent with a predetermined bending length and at a predetermined first bending radius; a radiation portion formed outside the coated portion at the first bending portion, and configured to radiate heat of the multi-mode optical fiber; and a second bending portion formed to the multi-mode optical fiber between the first bending portion and the optical multiplexer and bent at a predetermined second bending radius, wherein increase in a temperature at the second bending portion is restrained by radiation from the radiation portion.

Abstract: A diode-laser assembly having an electrically isolated diode-laser bar on a cooled base-element is disclosed. The diode-laser bar is electrically isolated from the base-element and electrically isolated from any coolant water, thereby eliminating the need for de-ionized water and mitigating corrosion due to galvanic action. Multiple such diode-laser assemblies are stackable, with small bar-to-bar pitch, enabling a high-current and high-brightness diode-laser stack.
