    摘要: A method of operating an internal combustion engine is provided. The method includes injecting a first fuel charge into at least one cylinder of the engine. The method further includes determining a value indicative of at least one of a cylinder pressure and a rate of change in cylinder pressure. The method further includes injecting a second fuel charge into the at least one cylinder, upon the occurrence of a predetermined contingency, which may be a determined cylinder pressure or rate in change thereof exceeding a predetermined threshold. An internal combustion engine is further provided, including an electronic controller having a control algorithm. The control algorithm includes software for determining a value indicative of at least one of a cylinder pressure and a rate of change in cylinder pressure of at least one cylinder of the engine. The control algorithm further includes logic for transitioning a fuel injector of the engine between modes, based upon the occurrence of a predetermined contingency, which may be the determined value.

    摘要: A method for combusting a fuel in a cyclone combustor having a burner and a barrel includes: feeding a stream of the fuel into the barrel at the burner end of the barrel; feeding a stream(s) of a first oxidant (e.g., air) having a first oxygen concentration into the barrel at a first flowrate, the stream(s) of the first oxidant including a predominant stream; feeding a stream(s) of a second oxidant (e.g., oxygen) having a second oxygen concentration into the barrel at a second flowrate and in a selective manner, whereby a portion of the first oxidant combines with a portion of the second oxidant, thereby forming a combined oxidant having a combined oxygen concentration, and a portion of the first oxidant from the predominant stream continues having the first oxygen concentration; and combusting a portion of the fuel with a portion of the combined oxidant in the barrel.

    摘要: A split inner ring of a bearing assembly comprises first and second rings, a plurality of holes, a circumferential annulus and a lubrication system. The first and second rings are configured to mate axially at inside side surfaces to define an inner raceway formed on an outer surface of the rings. The plurality of holes are circumferentially spaced and extend from an outside side surface to an inside side surface of the first ring. The circumferential annulus is formed on the inside side surface of the first ring, between the inner raceway and an inner surface of the first ring, and intersects the plurality of holes. The lubrication system connects the circumferential annulus to the outer surface of the first ring and the second ring. The lubrication system comprises circumferentially spaced slots in the first ring, or axial holes fluidly coupled with radial holes in the second ring.
