    摘要: A patient transfer device is utilized to transport infant patients between locations within a hospital environment. The patient transfer device includes a center, support section and a pair of side sections that can be moved into contact with each other to surround the infant patient. The first and second side sections each include a handle that can be brought into close proximity to each other and can be grasped by a single hand of a clinician. The patient transfer device includes a stiffening device that is positioned within the center section to provide support for the infant patient during transport. A hold down device is included on one or both of the first and second side sections to securely hold tubes and wires connected to the infant patient during transport of the infant patient.

    摘要: A sample collection kit includes a sample collector, a polycarbonate container, and a preservative solution. The sample collector includes an absorbent pad with a collecting element that receives a sample of oral fluid. The absorbent pad also includes an interior portion that extends into a handle. The handle includes an upper casing and a lower casing. The collecting element can be treated with a surfactant to optimize recovery of analytes from the oral sample and/or their absorbance onto the absorbent pad. A polycarbonate container receives the absorbent pad or the sample collector and stores it for testing of analytes. A dextran sulfate preservative solution is included in the polycarbonate container that inhibits enzymatic activity on a collected sample.

An example method to maintain state information for optimistically balanced synchronization of a lock of an object in a managed runtime environment disclosed herein comprises storing state information comprising a state of each pending optimistically balanced release operation corresponding to each pending optimistically balanced synchronization to be performed on the lock of the object, each pending optimistically balanced synchronization comprising respective paired acquisition and release operations between which an unknown number of unpaired locking operations are to occur, and modifying a first stored state of a first pending optimistically balanced release operation when a subsequent unpaired locking operation is performed on the lock, but not modifying any stored state of any pending optimistically balanced release, including the first stored state of a first pending optimistically balanced release operation, when a subsequent optimistically balanced synchronization is performed on the lock.

    摘要: In one aspect, the present invention provides methods, devices, and systems for ensuring that multiple components of a mixture are fully mixed in a continuous flow microfluidic system while ensuring that mixing between segments flowing through the chip is minimized. In some embodiments, the present invention includes mixing fluids in a droplet maintained at the tip of a pipette before the mixture is introduced to the microfluidic device. In another aspect, the present invention provides methods, devices, and systems for creating segments that move through a microfluidic chip with minimal mixing between segments. The microfluidic chip may have an interface chip and a reaction chip. In some embodiments, the present invention includes creating segments that flow through an interface chip and a reaction chip, wherein the interface chip and a reaction chip have separate flow control mechanisms and produce minimal mixing between segments.
