Abstract: A coil component is capable of suppressing permeation of liquid or gas into a magnetic portion and increasing mechanical strength of the magnetic portion. A coil component includes a magnetic portion including soft magnetic metal particles having an insulating oxide layer on a surface thereof, with the soft magnetic metal particles being bonded to each other with the insulating oxide layer interposed therebetween; and a coil portion provided inside or on the surface of the magnetic portion. A mixture containing a resin and inorganic particles is disposed between the soft magnetic metal particles.

Abstract: A tooling assembly, including a cermet tooling body and a plastic support structure operationally connected to the cermet tooling body. The plastic support structure at least partially encapsulates the cermet tooling body. The plastic support structure includes a plastic matrix portion and a plurality of high magnetic permeability metallic particles distributed throughout the plastic matrix portion. Each respective high magnetic permeability metallic particle has a magnetic permeability of at least 0.0001 H/m and each respective high magnetic permeability metallic particle has a relative magnetic permeability of about 8000. The plastic matrix portion is selected from the group consisting of high molecular mass polymers, thermoplastics, thermosetting polymers, amorphous plastics, crystalline plastics, resin-based materials, and combinations thereof.

Abstract: A nitrile rubber-based composition comprising 1,000 to 2,500 parts by weight of a magnetic powder or silylated magnetic powder having a compressed density of 3.4 to 3.7 g/cm3, 0.5 to 20 parts by weight of alkoxyalkylsilane, and 8 to 40 parts by weight of a plasticizer, based on 100 parts by weight of nitrile rubber, hydrogenated nitrile rubber, or blend rubber thereof. The nitrile rubber-based composition that does not cause deterioration in roll processability and in adhesion between an adhesive applied to a metal plate and the rubber, even when a magnetic powder is added at a ratio as high as 1,000 parts by weight or more based on 100 parts by weight of nitrile rubber, hydrogenated nitrile rubber, or blend rubber thereof.

Abstract: A magnetizable abrasive particle comprises a ceramic body having an outer surface and a magnetizable layer disposed on a portion, but not the entirety, of the outer surface. The ceramic body comprises a platelet having two opposed major facets connected to each other by a plurality of side facets. The magnetizable layer completely covers one of the two opposed major facets, and the magnetizable layer has a magnetic dipole oriented perpendicular or parallel to the facet which it completely covers. A plurality of the magnetizable abrasive particles, and abrasive articles including them are also disclosed. Methods of making the foregoing are also disclosed.

Abstract: Provided is a polymer nanowire which contains nanoparticles so as to have new functionalities. A thin film is formed on a substrate and includes functional nanoparticles and polymers, and further includes a photosensitive pigment as required. The thin film is irradiated with a pulsed laser. This causes a polymer nanowire containing the functional nanoparticles to grow from a surface of the thin film.

Abstract: A low viscosity polysulfide sealant composition. The composition comprises a curable polysulfide polymer; a crosslinking agent; and a plurality of core-shell particles. The core-shell particles comprise: a core comprising a ferromagnetic material; and a shell comprising silica treated with an organic sulfur containing compound. The shell is capable of bonding with the polysulfide polymer.
