Abstract: The following steps are performed in connection with a photodiode circuit: a) resetting the photodiode circuit; b) determining when a photodiode voltage changes in response to illumination to reach a threshold; and c) updating a counter in response to the determination in step b). The steps a) to c) are repeated until an end of a measurement period is reached. The value of the counter at the end of the measurement period is then output to indicate an intensity of the illumination.

Abstract: Tone mapping is applied to pixels of a digital image. A luminance value of a pixel is determined based on whether one or more pixel intensity values of a pixel in a color space are within a pixel saturation range. A pixel gain is determined based on the determined luminance value of the pixel, and the determined pixel gain is applied to the pixel. The luminance value may also or instead be determined based on whether one or more of the pixel intensity values is within a pixel black-out range. A weight may be employed to determine the luminance value.

Abstract: A method can be used to generate a reference clock signal having a reference frequency. N clock sub-signals are generated, where N is greater than or equal to 2. The N clock sub-signals are successively mutually shifted out of phase by π/N and each clock sub-signal has an elementary frequency that is equal to the reference frequency divided by N. The N clock sub-signals are propagated over propagation paths. The elementary frequency and a length of the longest propagation path are chosen so that each sub-signal has an acceptable degree of deformation. The duration of each sub-signal edge is longer than quarter of the period of the reference frequency. The reference clock signal is generated by EXCLUSIVE OR combining the propagated clock sub-signals at the end of their respective propagation paths.

Abstract: An upstream signal capture device includes a signal capture circuit having a first port and a second port. The first port of the signal capture circuit is arranged for coupling to a diplexer. The upstream signal capture device also includes an amplifier having a first port and a second port, the first port of the amplifier coupled to the second port of the signal capture circuit, and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) having a first port and a second port, the first port of the ADC coupled to the second port of the amplifier. The upstream signal capture device further includes a digital threshold detector having an input and output, the input of the digital threshold detector coupled to the second port of the analog-to-digital converter, and a memory configured to capture samples of the upstream signal. When using the upstream signal capture device to capture an upstream signal, a portion of an upstream signal is diverted into an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). A portion of the upstream signal is converted into a digital signal, and when the digital signal exceeds a threshold, the signal is captured in a memory.

Abstract: A method can be used for managing a power supply voltage on an output power supply pin of a USB Type-C source device coupled to a USB Type-C receiver device via a USB Type-C cable. A first measurement of a first voltage on a channel configuration pin of the cable is performed when the receiver device is not powered and a second measurement of a second voltage on the channel configuration pin is performed when the receiver device is powered. A difference between the first and second voltages is calculated and the power supply voltage is modified as a function of a value of the difference.
