摘要: An exhaust gas cleaning catalyst is formed of a carrier layer, and a noble metal catalyst and a SOx absorbing agent both carried on the carrier layer. The carrier layer of the exhaust gas cleaning catalyst includes at least a first distribution portion and a second distribution portion each having a different sulfate retention level. The sulfate retention level of the first distribution portion is lower than the sulfate retention level of the second distribution portion, and the noble metal catalyst is carried on the first distribution portion such that a SOx that has been oxidized on the noble metal catalyst diffuses toward the second distribution portion so as to be settled therein.

摘要: A catalyst (22) suitable for reduction of the NOx in an exhaust gas by ammonia in the presence of excess oxygen is arranged in the exhaust passage (18, 21) of an internal combustion engine. An aqueous urea solution is fed through a flow control valve (33) to the inside of the exhaust passage (21) upstream of the catalyst (22). When the temperature of the catalyst (22) is low, a large amount of the aqueous urea solution is fed to make the urea contained in the aqueous urea solution be stored in the catalyst (22). When the engine is accelerated and the temperature of the catalyst (22) rises, ammonia is released at a little at a time from the inside of the catalyst (22) and the NOx in the exhaust gas is reduced by the released ammonia.

Further, an exhaust choke valve for an exhaust brake is arranged between the SOx trap unit and the exhaust gas branch portion of the bypass section.

摘要: An exhaust gas purification device having a NOx absorbent includes a by-pass passage for by-passing the NOx absorbent, an exhaust gas flow rate control portion for regulating both a flow rate of exhaust gas flowing to the NOx absorbent and the flow rate of the exhaust gas bypassing the NOx absorbent, and a reductant addition portion for adding reductant into an exhaust passage upstream of the NOx absorbent. In this device, when it is necessary to discharge sulfur components from the NOx absorbent, a temperature rise control is executed such that a temperature of the NOx absorbent becomes higher than a predetermined temperature. Next, a rich condition control is executed such that an air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing to the NOx absorbent becomes one of a substantially stoichiometric condition and a rich condition. The flow rate of the exhaust gas to the NOx absorbent during the temperature rise control is controlled so as to be higher than that during the rich condition control.

摘要: An emission control unit includes a trunk passage, a loop passage connected to the trunk passage, and a path change portion that is provided in a connecting portion between the trunk passage and the loop passage and that includes a switching valve for changing the path of exhaust gas. The loop passage is provided with a first emission control portion for purifying NOx and carbon-containing particles present in exhaust gas. A second emission control portion for purifying NOx present in exhaust gas is provided in a downstream-side partial trunk passage. The emission control unit is equipped with a reducer injection nozzle for injecting into a first partial loop passage a reducing agent for recovering the emission control functions of the two emission control portions.

The trapped particulates are oxidized on the particulate filter, and the particulate filter has a trapping wall for trapping the particulates. The trapping wall has a first trapping surface and a second trapping surface. The device reverses the exhaust gas upstream side and the exhaust gas downstream side of the particulate filter so that the first trapping surface and the second trapping surface are used alternately to trap the particulates.

摘要: An exhaust gas purification device, for an engine having an exhaust passage, said device comprising a catalyst arranged in the exhaust passage for purifying NO.sub.x with a reducing agent. A purification ratio of the NO.sub.x by said catalyst becomes more than a predetermined ratio when a temperature of said catalyst is within a predetermined temperature range. A predetermined amount of a reducing agent is fed to said catalyst. An amount of the reducing agent to be fed is increased with respect to the predetermined amount when a temperature of an upstream end of the catalyst is lower than a lowest value of the predetermined temperature range and a temperature of a downstream end of the catalyst is higher than the lowest value.
