Abstract:
A squeeze casting powdery mold releasing agent according to this invention consists of a granulated or powdery mixture of a lubricant, an organic polymer and a metal soap; wherein the lubricant is coated with the organic polymer or the metal soap. Therefore, the mold releasing agent allows productions of castings of high quality, in a squeeze casting work, with good workability and without worsening environmental situations.
Abstract:
A method for treating the phosphate sludge waste from phosphate conversion baths used in the metal forming and metal working industry is described whereby the phosphate sludge is completely converted into a lubricant additive which can be used in lubricant formulations for the metal forming and metal working industry as well as general purpose lubricants. By operation of this process, waste treatment and waste disposal problems associated with the phosphate sludge are essentially eliminated. Various dry-soap lubricant formulations, warm forming lubricant formulations, non-reactive lubricant formulations, and metal precoat formulations containing the recovered or recycled phosphate sludge additive are described. The lime normally contained in many of these lubricant formulations can be significantly reduced or essentially eliminated by using the recovered phosphate sludge additive of this invention, thereby resulting in improved lubricant formulations. The recovered phosphate sludge is especially useful as an Extreme Pressure Additive.
Abstract:
A process for coating a machine part surface wherein the surface is cleaned, abraded and treated so as to render the surface directly bondable to a resin-bonded lubricant coating. A powder coating containing resin and resin-bondable lubricant then is directly applied to the treated machine part surface and cured so as to cross-link the resin.

Lubricating sealants which are resistant to aprotic solvents such as chloroform and carbon disulfide are prepared by forming a grease comprising glycerine, fumed silica, polyethylene glycol and a minor amount of water.
Abstract:
Acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphate having a length to average diameter ratio of at least 10:1 can be prepared by forming a melt of materials used as a source of calcium, phosphorus and alkali metal, cooling the melt to about 550.degree. C. to about 970.degree. C., inducing acicular crystal formation, and recovering the acicular crystals. The diameters of the resultant acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphates can average as small as 0.5 micron or smaller. Acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphate can also be prepared with an average diameter of several microns and a length of several centimeters. Such acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphates are useful in a number of applications, and particularly to prepare composites with organic polymeric materials.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an anti-friction coating (11, 12, 41, 42, 43) and an anti-friction coating composite (10) comprising at least 25 vol. % of a binder (16) and comprising fillers, which include zinc sulfide (18) and barium sulfate (20) and optionally additional fillers, wherein the volume ratio of barium sulfate (20) to zinc sulfide (18) is between 0.1 and 15.7, preferably between 0.8 and 4.88, and particularly preferably between 1.5 and 3.44. The anti-friction coating composite (10,40) comprises at least two anti-friction coatings (11, 13) of different compositions. The invention further relates to sliding bearing layered composite materials comprising such coatings and use thereof in internal combustion engines.
Abstract:
A method for imparting anti-seize protection and lubricant to threaded connections of protection during make-up and break-out is disclosed which includes adhering a metallic anti-seize film to threads of threaded connections and coating the film protected threads with a lubricating composition to form an anti-seize/lubricating system with reduced adverse environmental impact. The method can also include depositing a bonding film or layer onto the threads prior to adhering the anti-seize film.
