摘要: A method of producing an oxide glass thin film includes a process to obtain a transparent glass film, in which volatilization of additives in a porous film deposited is effectively suppressed and which can provide an oxide glass thin film having a desired arrangement of refractive index with a low optical loss. The method is for producing an oxide glass thin film, in which glass fine particles mainly containing SiO.sub.2 with additives are deposited on a substrate to form a porous thin film and then heated to form a transparent glass film. In the method, vapor of oxides of additive components is mixed in an atmosphere in which the porous thin film is heated to form the transparent glass film, whereby stopping the volatilization of the additives in the porous film deposited, preventing diffusion of the additives added to a core layer, and preventing the volatilization of glass transition temperature lowering components of additives (P.sub.2 O.sub.5, B.sub.2 O.sub.3, GeO.sub.2, etc.). By these, a desired arrangement of refractive index may be obtained, and an oxide glass thin film may be obtained while lowering the optical loss such as the optical scattering, which could be caused by bubbles in an unsintered portion.

摘要: An object of this invention is to provide a mode field diameter conversion optical fiber which can be processed in a short period of time to have a reduced mode field diameter at a desired portion thereof. The optical fiber according to this invention comprises a core of silica glass having a residual tensile stress, and a cladding surrounding the core and having a lower refractive index than that of the core. The desired portion is heated to relax the residual tensile stress in the core, whereby the optical fiber has a reduced mode field diameter at the desired portion.

摘要: Polyester sheets are produced by melting a low-viscosity polyester such as a recovered polyester under reduced pressure, extruding the melt into a sheet, and stretching the sheet in the direction of width by 2.5 to 120%. The polyester resin of the oriented sheet thus obtained has an intrinsic viscosity of 0.40 to 0.63. Polyester sheets can be produced readily and continuously from recovered polyester resins or polyester resins below standards, which have a low intrinsic viscosity, and the cost of production of polyester sheets is reduced. These sheets can be formed into various shaped articles by vacuum forming, pressure forming or the like without occurrence of draw-down and without giving defective shaped articles.

摘要: An oscillator circuit comprises a piezoelectric vibrator, an amplifier device including inverters provided in a plurality of stages, and an inverter control device. The inverters provided in the plurality of stages includes a performance-variable inverter configured which is operational in both of an initial phase of oscillation startup and a post-startup phase where the oscillation is stabilized and capable of a variable performance depending on whether the initial phase of oscillation startup or the post-startup phase where the oscillation is stabilized, and an ON/OFF inverter which is operational in the initial phase of oscillation startup and disconnected in the post-startup phase where the oscillation is stabilized. The inverter control device have the performance-variable inverter and the ON/OFF inverter both operational and lowers the performance of the performance-variable inverter in the initial phase of oscillation startup, and the inverter control device disconnects the ON/OFF inverter and increases the performance of the performance-variable inverter in the post-startup phase where the oscillation is stabilized.

摘要: The present invention relates to an optical fiber having a structure which allows further improvements to be made both in terms of lower reflectance and narrower bandwidth, and to a fiber grating type filter including the optical fiber. The optical fiber applied to the fiber grating type filter comprises a core region extending along a predetermined axis, and a cladding region provided on an outer periphery of the core region. The core region does not contain any photosensitive dopant which contributes to predetermined wavelength light photosensitivity as a glass property, but a part of the cladding region contain such a photosensitive dopant. By means of this composition, it is possible to form a grating, which has a grating plane slanted by a predetermined angle with respect to the optical axis, in a part of the cladding region surrounding the core region.
