Abstract:
Methods for preparation of 2′,3′-dideoxynucleotides support structures, such as 2′,3′-dideoxyguanosine, 2′,3′-dideoxyadenosine, and 3′-deoxythymidine support structures are disclosed. Various methods of using such structures are also provided, such as their use for automated DNA synthesis and pyrophosphorolysis activated polymerization.
Abstract:
Methods of using azide-modified biomolecules, such as fatty acids, carbohydrates and lipids, to treat a plant, an insect or an animal infected with a virus or to inhibit infectivity of a virus, such as the human immunodeficiency virus, are provided. Also provided are methods of labeling a virus, such as human immunodeficiency virus, with an azide-modified biomolecule, such as a fatty acid, a carbohydrate, or an isoprenoid lipid. Also, provided are methods of tracking a virus in vivo, with an azide-modified biomolecule, such as a fatty acid, a carbohydrate, or an isoprenoid lipid. The azide-modified biomolecules may be combined with a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient to produce a pharmaceutical composition, optionally containing another anti-viral agent and/or a delivery agent, such as a liposome.
Abstract:
A buffered suspension includes a surfactant and a solid buffer particulate having a point of zero charge at least 1.2 pH units different that the pH of the buffered suspension. The buffered suspension can be prepared by mixing a stock solution with the solid buffer particulate and titrating. A method of preforming a pH sensitive process includes drawing the buffered suspension from a reservoir, filtering the solid buffer particulate from the buffered suspension, and applying the filtered solution to a sensor.
Abstract:
The present application relates to systems and methods using biometric data of an individual for identifying the individual and/or verifying the identity of an individual. These systems and methods are useful for, amongst many applications, more secure identification of high-risk individuals attempting to gain access to an entity, transport, information, location, security organization, law enforcement organization, transaction, services, authorized status, and/or funds.
Abstract:
A method of separating bead substrates includes applying an emulsion to an emulsion-breaking solution. A dispersed phase of the emulsion includes an unbound polynucleotide, a first set of bead substrates and a second set of bead substrates. The unbound polynucleotide includes a segment complementary to a coupling oligonucleotide. The first set of bead substrates includes the coupling oligonucleotide extended to include a segment complementary to a portion of the unbound polynucleotide. The second set of bead substrates includes the coupling oligonucleotide. The emulsion-breaking solution includes an interference probe having a sequence similar to the coupling oligonucleotide or complementary to the coupling oligonucleotide. The method further includes binding beads of the first set of bead substrates to separation substrates and separating unbound beads of the second set of bead substrates from the beads of the first set of bead substrates bound to the separation substrates.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are methods, compositions and kits for the quantification of a nucleic acid target present on a solid support. This entails quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction wherein minor groove binders are excluded.
Abstract:
An apparatus including an array of sensors including a plurality of chemical sensors and a plurality of reference sensors, each chemical sensor coupled to a corresponding reaction region for receiving at least one reactant, and each reference sensor comprising a field effect transistor having a gate coupled to a corresponding reference line and an access circuit for accessing the chemical sensors and the reference sensors and a controller to apply bias voltages to the reference lines to select corresponding reference sensors, acquire output signals from the selected reference sensors, and identify one or more defects in the access circuit based on differences between the acquired output signals and expected output signals.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a reactive ester agent capable of conjugating a reporter molecule to a carrier molecule or solid support. The reactive ester agent has the general formula: wherein the variables are described throughout the application.
Abstract:
Devices, systems, kits, and methods for detecting and/or identifying a plurality of spectrally labeled bodies well-suited for performing multiplexed assays. By spectrally labeling the beads with materials which generate identifiable spectra, a plurality of beads may be identified within the fluid. Reading of the beads is facilitated by restraining the beads in arrays, and/or using a focused laser.
Abstract:
The present invention provides methods, compositions, kits, systems and apparatus that are useful for isolating nucleic acid molecules from a sample. In particular, the methods generally relate to normalizing the concentration of target nucleic acid molecules from a sample. In one aspect, the invention relates to purifying a primer extension product from a primer extension reaction mixture. In some aspects, nucleic acid molecules obtained using the disclosed methods, kits, systems and apparatuses can be used in various downstream processes including nucleic acid sequencing.
