摘要: A method and compound for treating skeletal muscle mass deficiency in a human subject are disclosed. The composition is an oligomer of morpholino subunits and phosphorus-containing intersubunit linkages joining a morpholino nitrogen of one subunit to a 5′ exocyclic carbon of an adjacent subunit, contains between 10-40 nucleotide bases, has a base sequence effective to hybridize to an expression-sensitive region of processed or preprocessed human myostatin RNA transcript, identified, in its processed form, by SEQ ID NO: 6, and is capable of uptake by target muscle cells in the subject. In practicing the method, the compound is administered in an amount and at a dosage schedule to produce an overall reduction in the level of serum myostatin measured in the patient, and preferably to bring the myostatin level within the a range determined for normal, healthy individuals.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for treating inflammatory symptoms associated with plantar fasciitis in a foot. The method involves stretching gastrocnemius and soleus muscles associated with the foot by placing the sole of the foot on an inclined ramp surface and cooling at least one portion of the sole of the foot. The method may further involve providing localized pressure to at least one portion of the plantar fascia, and to a portion of the foot below the toes, to cause dorsiflexion thereof.

摘要: A lead for in vivo procedures for stimulation of a tissue is provided that has stimulating electrodes and a fixation mechanism disposed at a distal end of the lead. The fixation mechanism includes a fixation component disposed on an opposite side with respect to an active surface of the stimulation electrodes. The lead fixation mechanism when deployed disposes the active surface of stimulation electrodes onto a tissue region opposite to the fixation component. The system includes an accelerator pedal, an accelerator pedal sensor configured to determine whether the accelerator pedal is depressed or released, an alternator having a resistance and an output current and a driving mode switch having an economy mode, a normal mode and a sport mode. The system also includes a vehicle speed sensor for determining a vehicle speed of the vehicle, a memory for storing a preferred range for a vehicle speed and an ECU configured to transmit a first instruction signal to the alternator to increase or decrease its resistance or output current based on a mode set by the driving mode switch when the accelerator pedal is released and the vehicle speed is within the preferred range of the vehicle speed.

The ECU determines whether the potential hazard exists based on the first and second hazard data. The ECU also determines a category corresponding to the potential hazard. The ECU also instructs the network access device to transmit potential hazard data corresponding to the potential hazard to the second vehicle when the category is a first category.

摘要: A system includes a first sensor for detecting vehicle data and a second sensor for detecting driver data. The system also includes a memory for storing preferred stops and a GPS unit for detecting a location. The system also includes an electrical control unit (ECU) that can determine a tired value of the driver based on the vehicle performance data and the driver condition data. The ECU can also determine that the driver is getting tired when the tired value is equal to or greater than a first tired threshold. The ECU can also determine a desired destination of the driver based on the preferred stops that the vehicle can reach before the tired value reaches or exceeds a second tired threshold. The system also includes an output device for outputting navigation instructions providing directions to the desired destination from the current location of the vehicle.
