Optionally the compound also includes additional polymers and functional additives to modify physical properties of the compound. Molded or extruded plastic articles can be made from the compound. The compound has a crystallization temperature of more than about 108° C.

A water-dispersible composition including a nanofiller-containing epoxy resin and a low temperature nonionic surfactant having a molecular weight of less than about 7,000 Daltons; and optionally an anionic surfactant or optionally a high temperature nonionic surfactant. The water-dispersible composition can be used to prepare an aqueous dispersion of the nanofiller-containing epoxy resin. The aqueous dispersion advantageously has a long shelf- stability. One method for preparing the aqueous dispersion includes using a high internal phase ratio emulsion process.

There are further provided a resin sheet and resin sheet for insulated substrate produced from the thermosetting resin composition. In particular, there is provided a thermosetting resin composition comprising an epoxy resin of 100 to 2000 epoxy equivalent, an epoxy resin hardening agent consisting of a phenolated compound, and a layered silicate, and are further provided a resin sheet comprised of the thermosetting resin composition and a resin sheet for insulated substrate comprised of the resin sheet.

Anaerobically biodegradable polyesters, and compositions and articles of manufacture containing the polyesters are described. Polyesters previously thought to be non-biodegradable under anaerobic conditions have been surprisingly and unexpectedly rendered anaerobically biodegradable by controlling the aromatic monomer content in the polyester. These polyesters can be made into fibers, films, non-woven fabrics, and adhesives. They are suitable for use in absorbent articles such as flushable personal hygiene products.

An article of manufacture includes an oxygen scavenger and poly(lactic acid). The article can be in the form of a film, coating, gasket, liner, insert, sealant, or fibrous matte. A film includes at least one layer including an oxygen scavenger, and at least one layer including poly(lactic acid). A package can be made from the film for enclosing an oxygen-sensitive artice such as food. The poly(lactic acid) blocks the migration of odor causing byproducts of the oxygen scavenging process. A method includes providing a film including at least one layer including an oxygen scavenger; and at least one layer including the poly(lactic acid); and exposing the film to actinic radiation. A method for reducing migration of organoleptically significant compounds is also disclosed.

The present invention provides a resin composition which comprises EVOH and a thermoplastic resin other than EVOH and which generates less odor and therefore is suitable for food packaging applications. The invention also provides an environmentally friendly method for producing a resin composition, without releasing any carboxylic acid such as acetic acid to the peripheral environment. A resin composition containing less carboxylate group is obtained by contacting an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer resin with an aqueous solution containing both carbon dioxide gas and at least one additive selected from the group consisting of an alkali metal salt (A) and a boron compound (B) and then melt kneading with a thermoplastic resin (G) other than EVOH.
