Abstract:
Tropospheric volume elements enriched with vital elements and/or protective substances as well as procedures for their production and application. The term “vital elements” applies to all matter supporting the development of life within the earth's biosphere and the term “protective substances” means all those substances which contribute directly or indirectly to the prevention of harmful effects on the earth's biosphere and in particular on man. Tropospheric volume elements in the form of clouds which contain contaminants and which can escape from industrial facilities due to damage or malfunction are enriched with protective substances which prevent the organism from taking in radioactive elements and minimize the extent of the area affected by the clouds and possess additional warning and identification properties.
Abstract:
A device for transporting vehicles during manufacturing is disclosed that allows for upward and downward movement of the vehicle but avoids adverse longitudinal or transverse swinging. The inventive device includes a moving carriage mounted on a fixed rail, an upper frame, a lower frame moveably connected with an elevation mechanism and at least one first pair of articulated arms for stabilizing the vertical movement of the vehicle. An additional pair of articulated arms may be provided which extend and retract in a plane that is perpendicular to the first pair of articulated arms. Additional stabilizing roller elements connected to a fixed rail are provided on a lateral arm of the upper frame to prevent swinging of the upper and the lower frames of the transporting device.
Abstract:
A dispersion of an ester polymer in at least one liquid wherein the ester polymer is a polymer consisting essentially of a first monomer with structural units derived from at least one ester (1) of an aliphatic carboxylic acid with an aliphatic alcohol, wherein one of the acid and alcohol is ethylenically unsaturated and the other of the acid and alcohol has a long chain group of 14-40 carbons. A second monomer is optionally present which is a monomer derived from a different ester (2) within the same definition as ester (1), such that the mole average carbon content of the long chain group is 15-35, and a third monomer with structural units derived from a corresponding ester (3) of an aliphatic carboxylic acid and an aliphatic alcohol. One of the acid and alcohol is ethylenically unsaturated and the other has an aliphatic group of 1-13 carbons, such that at least 30% of the said aliphatic groups have 15-35 carbons. The polymer is present in said dispersion in at least 10% by weight and the dispersion is in a liquid which comprises at least one first organic liquid selected from (a) a branched or linear aliphatic hydrocarbon of 6-16 carbon atoms and (b) an aromatic hydrocarbon of 6-10 carbon atoms.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A liquid pour point depressant composition comprises a pour point depressant which is a solid at room temperature and which has a number average molecular weight of at least 500, and a liquid medium in which the material of pour point depressant is substantially insoluble at room temperature. The pour point depressant component is dispersed in the liquid medium.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an oil-soluble lubricating oil additive comprising at least one terminally unsaturated ethylene/alpha-olefin/diene interpolymer of 300 to 20,000 number average molecular weight substituted with mono- or dicarboxylic acid producing moieties (preferably dicarboxylic acid or anhydride moieties), wherein the terminal unsaturation comprises terminal ethenylidene unsaturation. The mono- and dicarboxylic acid or anhydride substituted interpolymers of this invention are useful per se as additives to lubricating oils, and can also be reacted with a nucleophilic reagent, such as amines, alcohols, amino alcohols and reactive metal compounds, to form products which are also useful lubricating oil additives, e.g., as dispersants.
Abstract:
The invention relates to novel compositions comprising ene and free radical adducts of unsaturated and saturated hydrocarbons, and acyclic and cyclic vicinal polycarbonyl compounds such as diethyl ketomalonate and indantrione. The adducts are reacted with nucleophiles such as amines, electrophiles such as anhydrides and esters, and metal ions. Post-products are obtained via reaction of said products with capping reagents such as boric acid. Compositions containing said adducts, products and post-products include oleaginous substances such as fuels and lube oils.
Abstract:
A process for the inhibition of corrosion caused by naphthenic acid and sulfur compounds during the elevated temperature processing of crude oil by use of an aryl containing phosphite compound having one of the structures: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are C.sub.6 to C.sub.12 and at least one R group is an aryl radical.
Abstract:
A phosphorous- and sulfur-containing additive and its use to impart anti-wear properties to oleaginous compositions such as fuels and lubricating oils, particularly power transmission compositions, such as automatic transmission fluids, is disclosed. The additive comprises a mixture of products formed, for example, by simultaneously reacting (1) a beta-hydroxy thioether, such as thiobisethanol, (2) a phosphorous-containing reactant, such as triethyl phosphite and (3) optionally, a nucleophilic reactant capable of reacting with the ion ##STR1## to form thioether species. The resulting one or two phase reaction products are supplemented with inorganic phosphorous acids and/or anhydrides to increase the products' total acid number and correspondingly adjust the products' antiwear properties.
