    摘要: Fiber reinforced composite products of enhanced interlaminar ply strength and processes of producing same. In forming the products, layers of fibrous reinforcing material and resinous matrix material are established. The matrix material contains unset resin and short fibers of an average particle length of 0.2-0.6 mm in a weight ratio of short fibers to resin in the range of 0.4-1. The reinforcing material comprises fibers of a length substantially greater than the length of the short fibers in the matrix material. The fiber and matrix layers are integrated in order to cause the resin and short fibers which comprise the strengthened matrix material to enter into the interstitial spaces of the longer fiber reinforcing material. Thereafter, the matrix resin is solidified in order to arrive at the fiber reinforced composite product. Alternate fiber and matrix layers may be built up on a surface while a pressure gradient is established from the outside of the built up layers to the surface in order to cause the resin to flow across the interfacial boundaries of the resin and fiber layers. The flow across the resin fiber interfaces promotes orientation of the short fibers in a direction across the interfaces so that the short fibers enter into the interstitial spaces between the reinforcing fibers.

    摘要: A method of producing a printed article includes the following steps: providing a first web of polyethylene upon which a pattern has been printed; providing a second web of plastics material from which the article is to be formed, one of the first or second webs having a heat seal lacquer applied thereto; passing the first and second webs through a pair of heated rollers to cause the heat seal lacquer to become tacky; directing the first and second webs in adjacent overlying relation to a vacuum forming machine including a mold and applying heat and vacuum in the vacuum forming machine to cause the first and second webs to conform to the shape of the mold to produce the printed article, wherein the application of heat in the vacuum forming machine activates the heat seal lacquer to adhere the first and second webs together.

    摘要: A zero scrap method for manufacturing side panels for use with absorbent articles including the following steps. First, a web of material having predetermined portions is provided in a machine direction. The predetermined portions are then activated to provide stretch in the side panels. The web is then cut continuously severing the web into a first panel and a second panel, each of the panels having alternating, nested inwardly extending elements defined by the cut and terminating at a distal edge. The inwardly extending elements are offset with respect to each other in the machine direction. The first and second panels are separated and positioned such that the inwardly extending elements of the first panel and the inwardly extending elements of the second panel are aligned in the machine direction. The distal edge of at least a portion of the first panel is then joined with at least a portion of the distal edge of the second panel. Finally, the composite of the first and second panels is severed in the cross machine direction to create an extensible side panel that can be joined to an absorbent article.
