    摘要: A polymer based circuit production method provides a polymer based circuit by exposing a surface of a polymer substrate to ultraviolet radiation resulting in an adhesion promoted polymer substrate surface. A circuit is fabricated on the polymer substrate surface and a coating material is applied to at least a portion of the adhesion promoted polymer substrate surface. A portion of the circuit fabricated on the polymer substrate surface may be encapsulated. The polymer based circuit resulting from the method includes a polymer substrate having an ultraviolet radiation treated surface, a circuit formed on the polymer substrate surface, and a coating material encapsulating at least a portion of the at least one circuit between the polymer substrate and the coating material.

    摘要: In accordance with one aspect of the invention, a thin profile battery apparatus comprises at least two thin profile batteries conductively bonded to one another, with one of the batteries including portion which overhangs the other. In one implementation, the batteries comprise button type batteries. In one implementation, the two thin profile batteries are the same size and shape. In accordance with another aspect, a radio frequency communication device comprises a substrate having conductive paths including an antenna. At least one integrated circuit chip is mounted to the substrate and in electrical connection with a first portion of the substrate conductive paths. At least two thin profile batteries conductively bonded in series with and over one another and a second portion of the substrate conductive paths are included. One of the batteries has a portion which overhangs the other and is in electrical connection with a third portion of the substrate conductive paths. In but another aspect, a method of forming a battery powerable apparatus includes providing at least two thin profile batteries over one another. One of the batteries is conductively connected to a first node location formed on a surface of a substrate. The other of the batteries is provided to overhang the one battery and be electrically connected therewith. The overhang of the other battery is conductively connected with a second node location formed on the surface of the substrate.

The seal can include a gasket which constitutes the cross-linked butyl rubber or other material. The seal can comprise an uncured precursor to butyl rubber. Methods of forming such button-type batteries include in situ curing or forming butyl rubber in place on one of the battery terminals. Alternately, a butyl rubber precursor can be applied to one or both of the battery terminals.

In another aspect, a method of forming a battery includes: a) providing a cathode base which comprises: a first nonconductive surface; a first conductive layer superjacent the first nonconductive surface; the first conductive layer comprising a first area; and a cathode layer superjacent the first conductive layer leaving at least a portion of the first area exposed; b) providing an anode base which comprises: a second nonconductive surface; a second conductive layer superjacent the first nonconductive surface, the second conductive layer comprising a second area; and an anode layer superjacent the second conductive layer leaving at least a portion of the second area exposed, the anode layer comprising an alkali metal; and c) aligning and coupling the anode layer of the anode base with the cathode layer of the cathode base, wherein the aligning and coupling leaves at least a portion of the first area and at least a portion of the second area exposed for electrical connection. The invention also encompasses batteries formed by such methods.

    摘要: A button-type battery has an anode, a cathode, and an electrolyte encased with two terminal housing members. The terminal housing members have respective peripheries that are crimped together to form a fluid-tight seal. An insulating gasket is provided between the peripheries to electrically insulate the two terminal housing members. A porous separator physically separates the anode and cathode and extends between the terminal housing member peripheries at least partially into the fluid-tight seal. According to one aspect, the separator overlaps the gasket in the seal. According to another aspect, the separator and gasket are formed of a single, integral piece of material, where the peripheral edge of the separator/gasket extend beyond the seal.
