Abstract: A sheet (10) for a mask has a first fiber layer (11) and a second fiber layer (12). The second fiber layer (12) has a higher trapping ratio for particles having a particle diameter exceeding 1 μm and/or a smaller average fiber diameter than the first fiber layer (11). The basis weight of the second fiber layer (12) is from 1 to 20 g/m2. In a natural state, the second fiber layer (12) has a plurality of projections (13) projecting toward a surface of the second fiber layer (12) that is opposite to a surface of the second fiber layer (12) facing the first fiber layer (11) and depressions (14) that are each arranged between corresponding projections (13) of the plurality of projections (13). The depressions (14) have joined portions (15) where the second fiber layer (12) and the first fiber layer (11) are joined to each other.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for producing multi-layer meltblown mats. The method includes depositing first meltblown fibers onto a first moving surface such as a conveyor belt to form a first layer of meltblown fibers, and depositing second meltblown fibers onto a second moving surface such as a conveyor belt to form a second layer of meltblown fibers. The first and second layers of meltblown fibers are fed through opposed rollers to form combined meltblown layers comprising the first layer of meltblown fibers and the second layer of meltblown fibers. The combined meltblown layers are bonded together to produce a bonded multi-layer meltblown sheet. The bonded multi-layer meltblown sheet has a first outer exposed surface formed by contact of the first layer of meltblown fibers with the first moving surface, and a second outer exposed surface formed by contact of the second layer of meltblown fibers with the second moving surface.

Abstract: A polymer fiber sheet exhibits high porosity and good tensile properties in both “wet” and “dry” states. A fiber modifying agent is incorporated into a polymer extrusion and fiber formation process to produce a highly porous polymer fiber sheet that is instantaneously wettable by an aqueous medium. The fiber modifying agent functions as either one or both (1) a plasticizer that reduces the polymer extrudate melt viscosity and allows the formation of fine fibers during processing and (2) a surface modifying agent that promotes the instantaneous and sustainable wettability of individual polymer fibers and a porous fiber sheet formed from them. The polymer fiber sheet maintains its wettability even after repeated washing and drying cycles. The resultant fiber sheet can be densified and embossed to provide a desired thickness and porosity, while at the same time longitudinal ribs with desired pattern can also be formed on the fiber sheet.

Abstract: An anti-propylene mask and method for preparation thereof is provided; the anti-propylene mask includes a fiber cloth contact layer, an antistatic non-woven fabric layer and a fullerene/nano titanium dioxide spunbond layer which are arranged in sequence; the fullerene/nano titanium dioxide spunbond layer is made by spun-bonding the modified resin material into a fiber web; the raw materials of modified resin materials include matrix resin, carboxylated fullerene derivatives, nano titanium dioxide, a lubricant, and a coupling agent; the modified resin material is prepared by following method: the carboxylated fullerene derivative is mixed and reacted with the nano titanium dioxide to prepare the carboxylated fullerene derivative-modified nano titanium dioxide, which is then blended and extruded with the remaining components in the raw material, and thus prepared. The mask can prevent propylene from entering the human body through the human respiratory organs and has a good anti-propylene effect.

Abstract: A blended polymer comprising, an amorphous thermoplastic polymer and a thermoplastic semi-crystalline polymer, each of the polymers being essentially miscible in the other and being blended at a weight ratio of amorphous polymer/semi-crystalline polymer of greater that 0.05 to about 20 forms a melt blown nonwoven fabric having essentially no defects with long fiber lengths having uniform diameters. The nonwoven fabrics when used as a filter may have greater than 95% efficiency at a pressure drop of less than 2 mm Hg even after being exposed to high temperatures (˜70° C.) for an hour or more.

Abstract: Nonwoven multilayer structures having at least two nanofiber layers are described herein. The nonwoven multilayer structure may have two nanofibers layers that have different properties from each other, such as fiber diameter. One nanofiber layer may be produced by an electrospinning process, while another nanofiber layer may be produced by a melt blown process.

Abstract: Charged polymeric webs, such as electret webs, include a thermoplastic resin and a charge-enhancing additive. The additives are substituted heterocyclic thiolate salts. The heterocyclic thiolate salt has 2 nitrogen groups and a third group that may be an NH, N—NH2, O, or S group. The substituent group is an aromatic or heterocyclic aromatic group. The electret webs may be a non-woven fibrous web or a film. The electret webs are suitable for use as filter media.

Abstract: A process for the production of a nonwoven fabric. In particular, it relates to the production of a nonwoven fabric having desirable tactile and haptic as well as mechanical properties, as well as to the nonwoven fabric itself. The process requires the selection of specific polylactic acid polymers and corresponding process conditions.
