摘要: Polymeric coatings and methods of forming polymeric coatings are described. In a method of forming a polymeric coating a first layer is deposited on a substrate. The first layer includes at least one highly soluble diamine component. A second layer is formed on the substrate to contact the first layer. The second layer includes paraformaldehyde and an aromatic diamine including two primary amine groups. Once formed, the first and second layers are heated. Heating causes the components of the first and second layers to cure. For example, the paraformaldehyde from the second layer diffuses into the first layer and reacts via hemiaminal-type chemistry with the high soluble diamine component. The coatings may be substantially homogenous or comprise a compositional gradient in thickness or along the substrate plane depending on deposition methods and other processing parameters.

摘要: Described herein is multilayer article and methods of making thereof, wherein the multilayer article comprises: (a) metal substrate; (b) a first fluoropolymer layer having a thickness no more than 10 micrometers, wherein the first fluoropolymer layer consists essentially of a fluoropolymer comprising reactive groups, wherein when the fluoropolymer is a melt-processible fluoropolymer it comprises at least 30 reactive groups per 1,000,000 carbon atoms and when the fluoropolymer is a non-melt processible fluoropolymer it comprises more than 5 reactive groups per 1,000,000 carbon atoms; and (c) a second fluoropolymer layer having a thickness of about 10 to 1000 micrometers, wherein the first fluoropolymer layer is in contact with both the metal substrate and the second fluoropolymer layer.

摘要: A powder coating composition is provided herein. The powder coating composition includes a glycidyl-functionalized (meth)acrylic resin as a film-forming binder, a cross-linking agent (hardener) for the binder, particles chosen from the group comprising aluminum oxide Al2O3 and aluminum hydroxide Al(OH)3 particles, and a coating additive, the wt % based on the total weight of the powder coating composition. A process for the production of a scratch resistant powder coating is also provided herein. The process includes the steps of a) applying a transparent clear coat or a pigmented top coat directly onto a substrate surface or onto a prior coating, and b) curing the clear coat or the top coat applied in step a) wherein the transparent clear coat or the pigmented top coat includes the powder coating composition.

摘要: Articles having poly(vinyl alcohol)-containing (PVA-containing) and silica nanoparticle multilayer coatings are provided. More specifically, articles include a substrate and a multilayer coating attached to the substrate. The multilayer coating includes a first silica layer and a first PVA-containing layer. The first silica layer is a primer layer of the multilayer coating, and the silica layer comprises a plurality of acid-sintered interconnected silica nanoparticles arranged to form a continuous three-dimensional porous network. The PVA-containing and silica nanoparticle multilayer coatings can be used on a large variety of substrates and tend to be resistant to wet and dry abrasions, scratches, and impacts.

The methods and systems include sequential application of low flow and high flow powder coatings followed by a single heating step to provide a cured coating. The methods and systems include a marker that allows coating uniformity to be monitored and assessed during application. The described methods provide coatings with optimal surface smoothness and edge coverage.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a coating is provided, which includes applying a primer paint on a substrate, wherein the primer paint includes 100 parts by weight of a first PVF, 30-70 parts by weight of an assistance resin, 5-30 parts by weight of a curing agent, 100-120 parts by weight of a first latent solvent, 3-methoxy-3-methyl-1-butanol, and water. The first latent solvent, 3-methoxy-3-methyl-1-butanol, and water have a weight ratio of 60:10-20:40-60. The method also applies a finish paint on the primer paint, wherein the finish paint includes 100 parts by weight of a second PVF, 100-120 parts by weight of a second latent solvent, 3-methoxy-3-methyl-1-butanol, and water, wherein the second latent solvent, 3-methoxy-3-methyl-1-butanol, and water have a weight ratio of 50:10-20:30-60. The primer paint and the finish paint are baked and dried to form a coating.
