Abstract:
An isolator system includes first and second isolators respectively forming first and second workspaces hermetically sealed from ambient environment, and a pass box provided between the first and second isolators and forming a transport space enabled to communicate the first and second workspaces while maintaining hermeticity, wherein the pass box has a tray on which an article used in work is mounted, and a moving mechanism enabling movement of the tray toward directions to both sides of the first and second isolators, the tray has a first end on the first isolator side located in the first workspace when moved to the first isolator side, and a second end on the second isolator side located in the second workspace when moved to the second isolator side, and the first and second ends of the tray each has a grip bended downward from a mounting face of the tray.
Abstract:
Devices, systems, and methods for detecting molecules of interest within a collected sample are described herein. In certain embodiments, self-contained sample analysis systems are disclosed, which include a reusable reader component, a disposable cartridge component, and a disposable sample collection component. In some embodiments, the reader component communicates with a remote computing device for the digital transmission of test protocols and test results. In various disclosed embodiments, the systems, components, and methods are configured to identify the presence, absence, and/or quantity of particular nucleic acids, proteins, or other analytes of interest, for example, in order to test for the presence of one or more pathogens or contaminants in a sample.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for detecting and/or identifying target cells (e.g., bacteria) using engineered transduction particles are described herein. In some embodiments, a method includes mixing a quantity of transduction particles within a sample. The transduction particles are associated with a target cell. The transduction particles are non-replicative, and are engineered to include a nucleic acid molecule formulated to cause the target cell to produce a series of reporter molecules. The sample and the transduction particles are maintained to express the series of the reporter molecules when target cell is present in the sample. A signal associated with a quantity of the reporter molecules is received. In some embodiments, a magnitude of the signal is independent from a quantity of the transduction particle above a predetermined quantity.
Abstract:
A microfluidic device unit has a control device which includes at least one actuating unit and with a carrier for a microfluidic chip. The carrier is designed as module separate from the control device, but is connected with the same by at least one connecting line such that the actuating unit can actuate at least one function at the carrier. The carrier is provided with a receptacle for the microfluidic chip.
Abstract:
An incubation system for incubating membranes in western blot experiments featuring a base with an inner cavity adapted to hold membranes and small amounts of solutions and a lid that can pivot between an open and closed position to respectively allow and prevent access to the inner cavity. A gasket is disposed in between the lid and base to provide a water-tight seal between the lid and base. The systems can be stacked atop one another to allow for multiple systems to be placed atop a moving platform such as a rocking platform or an orbital shaker.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system for conducting the identification and quantification of micro-organisms, e.g., bacteria in biological samples. More particularly, the invention relates to a system comprising a disposable cartridge and an optical cup or cuvette having a tapered surface; wherein the walls are angled to allow for better coating and better striations of the light, an optics system including an optical reader and a thermal controller; an optical analyzer; a cooling system; and an improved spectrometer. The system may utilize the disposable cartridge in the sample processor and the optical cup or cuvette in the optical analyzer.
Abstract:
The present invention is an improved apparatus for sample analysis. The apparatus employs an assay component containing a membrane having one or a plurality of analyte-specific binding agents attached thereto, a means for absorbing liquid, and a piston means for drawing analytes through said membrane into said means for absorbing liquid. The apparatus is configured to be portable and provide a detector for detecting binding of an analyte to an analyte-specific binding agent, a plurality of data acquisition components, and a computer for integrating, analyzing and storing the detected analyte specific binding and acquired data.
Abstract:
An operating and reading instrument for performing an assay employing a portable microfluidic assay cartridge, the instrument comprising a translatable table under automated control, the translatable table carrying a receiving region for the portable cartridge and carrying a port system connectible to the cartridge that includes at least one remotely automated valve carried by the translatable table, the valve arranged to apply pressurized flowable substance at selected times to the cartridge while the cartridge is on the translatable table.
