摘要： An article comprises a silicon based substrate, a bond layer and a protective top layer. The top layer is selected from the group consisting of rare earth disilicates, yttrium disilicates, rare earth monosilicates, yttrium monosilicates, silica and mixtures thereof. The protective layer described above is used in combination with a bond layer provided between the protective layer and the silicon based substrate which functions as oxygen getter and includes an oxygen gettering agent. By oxygen gettering agent is meant a refractory metal oxide former which forms an oxide at operational condition of (high temperature and aqueous environment) having a melting point of greater than 1500° C. wherein the negative free energy of formation of the refractory metal oxide from the refractory metal is more than 100 Kcal/mole. Suitable oxygen gettering agents include silicon and other refractory metals. An oxygen gettering agent may also be added to the protective layer.

摘要： In a zinc oxide film having a plurality of texture constituents comprised of hills each having structure wherein a first surface borders on a second surface along one curved line, texture constituents in which first surfaces the hills of the texture constituents have have an average angle of inclination in a size within the range of from 30 degrees or more to 60 degrees or less and second surfaces have an average angle of inclination in a size within the range of from 10 degrees or more to 35 degrees or less account for at least a half of the plurality of texture constituents. This enables improvement in characteristics and durability of zinc oxide films used as optical confinement layers in photovoltaic devices, and also enables formation thereof at a low cost.

摘要： An electronic apparatus casing that includes a casing body made from a magnesium or magnesium alloy material is provided. The external surface of this casing body is protected by a plurality of film layers. Specifically, a first layer of copper is formed on the casing body. Then, a second layer of nickel is formed on the first layer of copper. A third layer of a transparent glass is then formed on the second layer of nickel. Lastly, a fourth layer of silica is formed on the third layer of transparent glass. The combination of these layers functions to exhibit a corrosion resistance, an abrasion resistance as well as an external metallic feeling.
